  • Pedophilia is WRONG

Still one of my favorite podcasts but Michael Tracy is so obnoxious. To be so skeptical that you don’t believe anything is enough to make him incredible. To not believe that humans have the capacity to harm others, that a 40 something man should have credibility over a young woman who may not understand the consequences of saying yes to $ when you are broke (supposedly theft is committed by the poor because their poor). It’s obvious that Michael doesn’t think men can be bad people and just becau... more

  • Rommelmann is a gem

Great convo! I would add, though, that there's a real mindset transformation going on in the culture wars--which left-wingers tend to blame on the right but (IMO) are more often to blame themselves. Politics has become their religion (socially, *not* spiritually), and it's as dogmatic as any monotheism, dictating that there can be no compromise on what they deem to be the moral truth, thereby leading them to believe with all their heart that the right is not simply wrong; they're evil.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

E387. Why Tariffs Are Crushing Small Business | Scott Lincicome - Walk-Ins Welcome
Q: And is there a way to know how much growth Trump left on the table or how inconsistent the policy became over time?
In the long run it's still uncertain, but the trends show that while some tariffs didn't derail the economy, they did dampen investment, increase input costs, and entrench protectionist thinking. The effects are visible in specific sectors and small businesses, and many studies only matured after lagged data.
E386. Why Everyone Online Is in a Cult | Andrew Gold - Walk-Ins Welcome
Q: You've talked a lot about the idea that influencers can become cult leaders. How does that manifest in your work and in the guests you've encountered?
He explains that many creators use branding, catchphrases, and group identity to build loyalty, sometimes crossing into cult-like territory, while noting that this is a spectrum and depends on circumstances and audience dynamics.
E386. Why Everyone Online Is in a Cult | Andrew Gold - Walk-Ins Welcome
Q: So Andrew, what are you doing these days and what's top of mind for you right now?
He talks about his focus on culture wars, the dynamics of online cults, and the evolving landscape of media, humor, and free speech. He emphasizes authenticity, the effect of algorithms on content, and the pressures of balancing integrity with audience expectations.
E383. Big Tech Owns Society Now - Jacob Siegel
Q: What is the Information State, in simple terms, and why should people care?
The Information State is a form of governance where control over information, platforms, and algorithmic decisions determines political access and services; understanding it matters because it reveals how power is exercised beyond traditional institutions and shapes everyday life.
E383. Big Tech Owns Society Now - Jacob Siegel
Q: How do you see the relationship between the internet and real life, given how online and offline worlds intersect now?
The online world increasingly constitutes the environment in which people live, learn, work, and relate, to the point that the line between digital simulations and real life blurs; you can't escape it, but you can choose to subordinate it to human values and base rights to preserve agency.
