  • Longer episodes & better preparation please

I just listened to the latest episode and was disappointed. Host and wife team seemed ill prepared for the interview. Then host cut off their brilliant guest at the end, right as he was getting to the point of his answer to their question! I felt offended for him. Why cut off the best part of the episode for the “sake of time”? Listeners can just pause if needed and come back later.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

194 | What is Memory Period? - ft. Veritas Scholars Academy Teacher, Yolanda Statema
Q: Yolanda, could you share a bit about your background and how you came to be involved with classical education?
Yolanda explains that her introduction to classical education came from her parents and emphasizes how she discovered a niche in teaching within classical settings, leading to a lifelong commitment to the approach.
190 | Christian Parents and the Sexual Revolution - ft. Mary Eberstadt
Q: What is the core thesis of Adam and Eve After the Pill?
The book argues that the sexual revolution, driven by birth control and changing norms, disrupted the traditional family structure and had broad negative consequences on romance, gender roles, and childrearing, which in turn affected society at large.
188 | The Importance of Preparing for the SAT and ACT - ft. Jean Burke
Q: What is the CLT and how does it fit into the landscape?
The CLT is presented as a faster, remotely proctored option that gained rapid traction during COVID because many colleges accepted it, and Burke positions it as a valuable alternative that aligns with a focus on critical thinking and accessibility.
188 | The Importance of Preparing for the SAT and ACT - ft. Jean Burke
Q: What is the difference between SAT and ACT, and should students take both?
She explains that virtually all colleges accept either test and that there is no universal advantage to one over the other; the key is to choose one and master its patterns, as the two tests are largely similar in structure and scoring.
185 | Navigating College Entry from the Early Years - ft. Susan Gimotty
Q: How do you know college is the next step for your child, or what other paths could be viable instead?
College may be the right path for some, but other viable options include a gap year with internships or missions, junior college for a slower transition, or trade/technical schools. The decision should come from ongoing dialogue and observation of the child's interests and readiness.
