  • Hooked!

What an eye opening, independent, honest podcast from two no nonsense hosts about the true state of affairs in our country. They are a real joy to listen to & learn from. They certainly show up how very delinquent other news sources are with their lies & misinformation. Keep up the great work!

  • Fearless

Nicole and Denis are ruthless, and fair, in their appraisals of Australian and international media. They provide clear evidence and examples of how the media has failed its duty.

Their passion and integrity is on full display and presents a strong defence to the misinformation, misdirection and lies we are all exposed to from entrenched media and captured governments.

  • Clarity for us all

In Truth, Lies, and Media, I have finally found a Rosetta Stone for the modern world; one that translates the capricious and often intentionally confusing media milieu into something that is both intelligible and prescient.

Muller and Chvastek and their guests, bring combined insight, wisdom and clarity to an information age that is chatacterised by bias, obfuscation and shameless dishonesty.

Suddenly the curtain is pulled back and I am immensely grateful for this production.

  • Truth to Power

Absolutely love this podcast. Both hosts cut through all the bulldust with their extensive knowledge of the media & governments with their lies & machinations. Wish there were more independent podcasts like this one. Nicole & David certainly make a difference to the usual guff we are forced to listen to by others

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 50 - Holding the Mirror
Q: What is the ethical takeaway when covering polarizing political figures without stigmatizing mental health language?
A careful approach that acknowledges behavior and impact without diagnosing mental illness, using precise descriptors and emphasizing accountability.
Ep 50 - Holding the Mirror
Q: How should the media balance reflecting community sentiment with avoiding sensationalism in crisis coverage?
By reporting what others say, verifying with multiple sources, and resisting the urge to insert the media's own emotions, while providing context through trunk stories and backgrounders.
Deep Dive 10 - with Matthew Ricketson
Q: Why are some people willing to go on the record, and how did you handle sensitive interviews?
Many were courageous but cautious; the authors built trust, sometimes using background interviews, and were careful to protect participants who faced ongoing risks from retribution.
Deep Dive 10 - with Matthew Ricketson
Q: How did you and Andrew Dodd decide to write this book, and why take a case-study approach?
We wanted to tell victims' stories and examine the broader impact on democracy, using case studies from multiple countries to show patterns of how the Murdoch empire targets individuals and influences public discourse.
Deep Dive 11 - with Michael Bradley
Q: What was the significance of the 'unindicted co-conspirator' line and the timeline of the case?
The line was used to portray broader allegations about a political and media network; the timeline shows how revelations from the Dominion/Fox case undermined those imputations and shifted the case toward a broader critique of a propaganda operation rather than specific individuals.
