Campus talks: The future of doctoral research funding for arts and humanities
Q: What advice can you give to a doctoral researcher today in terms of securing the funding they need for their work?
It's important to define the originality, significance, and rigor of your proposal clearly in your application and to develop a strong relationship with your potential supervisor for project development.
Campus talks: How to unlock motivation and beat procrastination in your students and yourself
Q: Is this ability intrinsic, or is it something that can be taught?
Self-regulation is highly teachable. Instruction in goal-setting, time management, just the awareness or the awareness of students of the importance of metacognition thinking while you're thinking can significantly improve students' ability to regulate their learning.
Campus talks: How to unlock motivation and beat procrastination in your students and yourself
Q: What is the relationship between self-regulation and achievement and success through higher education?
Self-regulation is critical. Self-regulation is really sort of the planning, the monitoring, and the evaluation of learning.
Campus talks: How to unlock motivation and beat procrastination in your students and yourself
Q: So I wondered what motivated you to study motivation.
I was interested in physical education and how to get people who were interested and engaged in physical education, how could we transfer that motivation to post-schools.
Campus talks: Why ‘grit’ and knowing when to say ‘no’ are vital skills in academia today
Q: What are the unique challenges of balancing teaching, research, and administration?
Sarah Robinson notes that these areas often do not mutually reinforce each other, making balance difficult.
