Each week he'll be joined by a guest to crack open the political phrasebook and attempt to demystify the doublespeak. Why does everything now have to be 'turbo-charged'? What's the difference between a 'pledge' and a 'mission'? Why has my local MP been... more

  • Sophy Ridge fact check

I have listened to some knowledgeable commentators on the BBC Panorama programme re Trump

I would say Media Confidential is pretty factual and insightful. Sophy claimed today that the BBC are at fault because they didn’t act on Porters report which he then leaked. There is a lot more to that and apparently his report was received and acted on many month’s ago. Porter isn’t an unbiased actor in this and the issues are much more complicated than the sadly banal discussion on the recent podcast.... more

  • Terry Pratchett

Unseen Academicals and Going Postal are sitting on my bookshelf. Will never give them away. Others are on my Kindle. I only started reading Terry Pratchett novels in my 50s. They are such a critical examination of society, government and power structures…and absolutely hilarious. This recommendation has reminded me to keep collecting and reading.
