  • From the beginning

I loved the 500th episode where we heard from longtime listeners. We share an inspiring vision, but it’s heartbreaking that we still have a long way to go. I was an early follower too, and only wish I had found Tlit even sooner. 10 years?!?! Thanks for your tenacity Debbie Reber!

  • So informative!

Great podcast, but please stop Zach from saying “right” so many times. It makes it very difficult to listen to the ones he’s a guest on.

  • Ad Issues, Great Content

I love the content but the way the ads are structured turns me off of this show and makes me reconsider listening. There are way too many ads and they are very long and interrupt the flow of the episode. And a mini episode I listened to, almost half of the “episode” was ad space! I understand they’re a necessary evil, but I listen to many podcasts and this one has the worst ad setup, from a user experience, out of any that I listen to.

  • Great!

She did a wonderful interview with Dr. Melanie Hayes about 2e kids. That is what helped me find the podcast, and now I enjoy listening to it. Thanks for all your great work!

TPP 307a: Eliza Fricker Talks Parenting a Child with PDA
Q: How would you describe PDA to someone who assumes all kids dislike demands, including those with ADHD or autism?
Eliza explains that PDA is a profile characterized by extreme avoidance of demands, driven by anxiety and a need for autonomy, and that supports should be relationship-based and flexible rather than one-size-fits-all.
TPP 507: A Conversation with Dr. Destiny Huff About Neuroaffirming Advocacy in School
Q: What should parents do if they feel stuck despite doing everything correctly?
Consider getting an advocate, explore free resources and networks, and one-on-one behind-the-scenes guidance to help frame the conversation and escalate when needed.
TPP 507: A Conversation with Dr. Destiny Huff About Neuroaffirming Advocacy in School
Q: How can parents advocate effectively without burning out?
Document everything, seek support from an advocate or thought partner, and use templates and letters to communicate clearly; focus on collaboration and ask questions to uncover school reasoning and real needs.
TPP 507: A Conversation with Dr. Destiny Huff About Neuroaffirming Advocacy in School
Q: What makes an IEP truly neuroaffirming rather than just compliant?
A truly neuroaffirming IEP teaches the required skills while providing the necessary supports and accommodations, recognizing all forms of communication and addressing executive function, regulation, and co-regulation to enable access and meaningful participation.
TPP 375a: How Can Our Family Navigate Vacations When They Throw Off My Child's Need for Routine
Q: How can families plan for vacations when a child is highly routine-driven or autistic?
Start with thorough pre-trip planning, involve the child in choosing activities, and build in flexible windows for downtime. Use visual aids to outline departures and daily plans, prepare for potential stressors ahead of time, and create backup plans so the trip can adapt without escalating dysregulation.
