  • Finally getting answers

Thank you Dr. Eric! Your podcast has been a lifesaver. I’ve learned so much! I’ve struggled with Hashimoto’s for 20 years and doctors have always just “managed” my condition by what they see on the blood test results. Finally, I found you who agrees that our bodies aren’t broken! I passionately want to recover and I’m getting great advice through your podcast!

  • Talks over the guest a bit much

I agree with another 3 star review about Eric talking over and arguing with the guest speaker in the interview excessively many times. I really want the opinion of the guest speaker! Sometimes I think he bangs on about cell danger response too much. I keep downloading when there are guests. It us goid he reminds people prescribing isn’t always the solution but because he doesn’t prescribe medication I feel ge sometimes is too dogmatic about “no pharma and supplements are pharma too “opinions.

  • Mental health thyroid connection

Wow! Never considered that the current state of my mind or body would directly affect supplements etc, that I’m supposedly taking to fix my condition. Very informative and interesting.

  • Host argued with guest most of show

Wow I listen to podcasts with guests all the time. This one really bothered me. He asks for her story then argued and said she was confusing it when he really did it S he explained how she didn’t think like him. I was interested in the thyroid topic but I just got upset by the host self righteousness. The guest is not there to bring the host glory! But to talk about in settled science. If he needs praise find a different platform and he totally owes his guest a bunch of apologies. By the... more

Episode 234: The GI Connection to Hormone Disorders with Dr. Cassie Smith
Q: How should someone approach hormone replacement in light of gut health and cellular uptake?
Assess whether symptoms truly reflect a deficiency, consider lifestyle and gut function first, and recognize that simply raising hormone levels without improving absorption and utilization can worsen symptoms.
Episode 234: The GI Connection to Hormone Disorders with Dr. Cassie Smith
Q: What role does stress play in gut and hormone health?
Chronic stress shifts the body into a state that degrades gut integrity, disrupts hormone metabolism, and triggers inflammatory pathways that impair hormone signaling and production.
Episode 234: The GI Connection to Hormone Disorders with Dr. Cassie Smith
Q: Why can lab values be misleading when treating hormone-related symptoms?
Lab values reflect the state of the blood, not the cell; hormones must be utilized by cells, and gut health, inflammation, and metabolic state determine cellular uptake and effectiveness.
Episode 234: The GI Connection to Hormone Disorders with Dr. Cassie Smith
Q: What initially pushed you from traditional endocrinology toward a gut-focused, functional approach?
A realization that patients weren't improving despite standard treatments, driven by burnout and observed failures of conventional care, led her to explore gut health and systemic inflammation as foundational drivers of hormonal issues.
Episode 213: AI Is Giving Health Advice—But Does It Understand Your Body?
Q: Is AI changing the patient-clinician relationship for better or for worse?
AI is likely to improve connections by allowing practitioners to focus more on relationship-building with patients while using AI for data processing.
