Thanks to the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia for hosting the festival and having us out! (Some wonky audio, apologies.) Enjoy the episode and our innocent intellectual exercise. 🙂
King David vs. the Beatles, how-is-this-our-first-Blues-Brothers-reference, and some surprisingly righteous possession. And hey Philly! We’re doing a live taping at the Jewish New Media Fest on Sunday, December 8, 2019, and it just won’t be the same ... more
Devils, giants, and other sports team names abound as Alan and Miriam dive into parshat Chayyei Sarah with friend and fellow nerdy Jewish podcast host, Aaron Roller of The Portion!
With huge thanks to the amazing folks at the JCC of Metro Detroit, we humbly present our first live taping! A greatest hits show, of sorts, with some songs, laughs, games, obligatory bad puns, and, of course, lots of demons. Want to bring TS to your ... more
Ashmodai’s dual curriculum. The rabbi of the break-away minyan. Demon weddings. And an upcoming live show!
Three queens. An unlikely (fallen) hero. And demonic stowaways, maybe? Note from Alan & Miriam: We had some funky sound issues in this episode. Our apologies. We did our best and will have whatever audio demon wonked up the system outta there by next... more
Who’s (really) the boss? A sheydah on the catwalk. And if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it, but if it’s a demon...
The royal pedicure goes awry. Even demons get due process. And human/sheyd genetics... require further study.
I just discovered this podcast (thanks to #JTwitter & @theRaDR) & I am so glad. It’s such a refreshing counterpoint to my more serious Jewish podcasts & readings. I appreciate the serious content and the banter. I hope to hear more about the Patron Demon of Librarians!
Very informative while being entertaining. Also thoughtful insights into how society shapes the evolution of ideas. And Mirium & Alan are wonderful.
Love this podcast. Thanks for offering brave and deep Jewish learning that isn't just the “safe” parts. This is wild and wacky and resonates deeply. Never stop making this podcast
This is a fun podcast to listen to, especially if you have even a vague idea of what Judaism is about. I gather the hosts have varying experience with Jewish scholarship, and it sounds really petty but I did get put off by one of the host's awkward giggling. The actual content is pretty fun though.
I love this podcast; it is my joy. I can’t wait to learn more every week. If you are interested in demons and want to better understand them this is great. Please make bookmarks.
I am really enjoying this window into Jewish cosmology and history, through stories, traditions, and commentaries about demons. Apparently the story about the help King Solomon had in building the Temple is just the tip of a very complex demonic iceberg, that I look forward to hearing more about.
I love the content - so great, well researched and unique. It is frustrating to have the information constantly interrupted by pop culture references and side bar comments - it just makes the meat of the information really hard to follow. I also wish the episodes were longer than 25-30 minutes. It seems like each episode only is able to get mildly into the content and you could go so much deeper if you had more time (and less silly sidebar convos).
