Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Scott Carson - DEPARTURE 37
Q: Tell me a little bit more about creating that part of the story, the research you had to do.
The rhetoric around artificial intelligence seemed to have uncanny echoes to the rhetoric used to justify the nuclear race, which made it a natural bridge to explore.
Scott Carson - DEPARTURE 37
Q: Will you give me a quick synopsis for those that haven't read it yet?
The novel kicks off in the present day when a bunch of commercial airline pilots receive calls in the middle of the night from their mothers urging them not to fly due to premonitions.
Janice Hallett - THE KILLER QUESTION
Q: Can you give me a quick synopsis of The Killer Question?
The book is a murder mystery about Sue and Mal Eastwood, who run a pub in a remote part of the UK. They are concerned about a new quiz team called the Shadow Knights that keeps winning and may be connected to their past as police officers.
Catherine Chidgey - THE BOOK OF GUILT
Q: What was the hardest part about writing this one?
The hardest part was making sure that the three strands would fit together interlock in the way that I wanted them to, so that I was giving just enough information in a particular section before switching to another one.
Catherine Chidgey - THE BOOK OF GUILT
Q: Can we talk a little bit about how and why you decided on that?
I did want history to depart from what we know and decided that the jumping off point would be a different ending to World War II.
