Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Devon Mihesuah - BLOOD RELAY
Q: But first, will you give me a quick synopsis of Blood Relay?
Devon Mihesuah summarizes Blood Relay as following Oklahoma City detectives Perry Antelope and Sophia Burns as they track an abducted Indian horse relay rider across tribal lands, uncovering dangerous cross-border jurisdictional issues and a case that blends mystery with education about Indigenous cultures and the Choctaw Nation.
Rachel Hochhauser - LADY TREMAINE
Q: Welcome, Rachel. How are you today?
I'm well, and grateful for the conversation and the chance to talk about Lady Tremaine.
Amy Jo Burns - WAIT FOR ME
Q: Absolutely. You know, I would say Wait for Me is a country song with some skin on it. It's about a character named Elle Harlow. She's a famous folk singer and she disappears when she's 22 at the height of her career. Twenty years later, this other young musician named Marijon finds a piece of Elle's past that starts to reveal the truth behind what happened when Elle disappeared. How did you come up with the ideas for this one?
I drew inspiration from a mix of weathered historical threads, meteor legends, and the music world, grounding the fiction in real places, personal mentors, and the emotional arc of a woman who creates beauty from pain. The book grew from three core ideas—the disappearance, the music that defines a life, and the courage to face hard truths—woven together through Elle's songs and Mary John's perspective.
Taylor Adams - HER LAST BREATH
Q: What did your research look like?
My parents sent me a bunch of books on caving survival that were really helpful, and I watched a lot of GoPro videos of real cavers in tight spaces.
Taylor Adams - HER LAST BREATH
Q: Are you a caver?
I have been in some caves, nothing as intense or cool as depicted in the book, but I've been in a few.
