As an avid podcast listener, I’ve been on the lookout for a podcast with a great format that can toss occasional music at me on my dog walks. The structure of this podcast is absolutely thought-provoking while bringing very unique perspectives out of its guests. I’ve always felt that when it came to interviewing artists, John Wilson was a very special broadcaster.

His knowledge of their work is always fantastic, but what really makes his interviewing special is the amount of space he gives his guest. That is why the format of a podcast is absolutely perfect for John. It gives him more time and more space to go deeper or off on an unplanned conversational detour.

I’ve only started listening to these and my first was Natalie Merchant. This was such a wonderful and moving listen and it’s obvious that John Wilson is as excellent here as he is in Mastertapes.

Great podcast exploring artist’s writing processes, gives in-depth insight into each artist and how they write and feel about how they write. Lovely interview technique, easy to listen to and lots of interesting stories and experiences to absorb. Love it!

John brings a warmth and his extensive knowledge wrapped up in a brilliant idea .... this has the potential to run and run. Roy Plomley would be impressed.

Always loved mastertapes but this podcast on Paul Weller very interesting on the creative process. Anyone with a creative bent should tune in. John Wilson has a great knack with people.

I am loving this series! The relaxed but in depth approach gives an insight to what goes through an artist’s mind during the creative process. John Wilson is a very personable and well prepared host who clearly puts his subjects at ease which enables them to comfortably explain their thinking. A great listen!!
