  • For Listener Experience — Editing Matters!

The April 24, 2025 episode was recommended to me, but I simply couldn’t get through it with all of the distractions and detractors: noise and repeated sirens in the background for extended periods, speaker cross-talk, hard-to-follow topic through-line, etc. Please consider that there is more to podcast quality than good microphones and snazzy soundbites. Guess I’ll just read the transcript…

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The daytime drop: rethinking social media effectiveness
Q: What should brands do differently to maximize effectiveness given these findings?
Brands should plan the two channels in unison, prioritize creative alignment during daytime hours, leverage priming by pairing OOH and social creatives, and consider location-aware dynamic creatives to bridge social and in-store or on-site discovery.
The daytime drop: rethinking social media effectiveness
Q: From a consumer diary perspective, what were the most surprising still-relevant insights about how people use social media out of home?
Out-of-home social sessions were not only more diverse and trigger-driven, but also more likely to involve shopping intents, locations-based needs, and social interactions with others, leading to higher engagement when cross-channel cues are aligned.
The Multiplier Effect: what we know so far
Q: What did the ANA survey reveal about blockers to implementing an integrated marketing plan?
The ANA survey showed budgets are tight, many marketers face pressures to prove impact, and there are organizational barriers—alignment with the C-suite, siloed marketing teams, and difficulties embedding the multiplier effect into creative work. These blockers hinder moving from intention to action.
The Multiplier Effect: what we know so far
Q: And just as a quick refresher, what is the multiplier effect?
It is the idea that brand advertising and performance advertising amplify each other; strong brand equity increases the effectiveness and efficiency of performance tactics, leading to higher ROI when both are balanced and integrated.
What resilience means for brands right now
Q: Can you give us a little overview of the situation and how this report came about?
The report was driven by the regional observation that brands often pull back during conflict; the aim was to build an evidence-based position to help advertisers talk to clients and avoid the long-term harm of reduced spend. Historical and recent research show that pausing marketing typically yields poorer recovery, while maintaining presence supports long-term performance.
