  • Great information, great human stories!

I found this podcast from listening to the Shaun Newman Podcast. I have a degree in Environmental Studies and have not been a fan of Monsanto ever. Now I have a Cattle Hoof Care business in Saskatchewan (for 23 years) and Vance helps me relate more to the people and dairy cows I work for. Kudos!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Chris Fisher on the Vance Crowe Podcast: Bitcoin, Chickens & Why Boomers Live in a Different Country
Q: What was the epiphany moment about Bitcoin for you?
The guest describes 2008 as a pivotal moment: neglecting the financial world nearly cost him during a home-build loan, which pushed him toward Bitcoin after learning about its decentralized, hard-money properties and the importance of trustless systems.
Dan Kloeckener: A Life on the Cutting Edge
Q: Did you set out to become a hairstylist?
No, I started in waitressing and restaurant work, and the idea to pursue beauty and hair came later after a chance conversation, leading to beauty school and a new career.
Remembering Jim Rutt: A Life Lived at the Ragged Edge
Q: What are the potential risks of AI and how should society approach governance?
AI risks range from rapid, “FOOM-like” takeoffs to governance failures. He argues for proactive safety measures, rethinking constitutional and governance frameworks, and exploring new forms of regulation that can keep pace with AI capabilities instead of relying on archaic structures.
Remembering Jim Rutt: A Life Lived at the Ragged Edge
Q: What is Game B and how did its ideas originate?
Game B emerged as a collaborative effort to rethink social organization away from centralized, hierarchical systems toward more fluid, role-based leadership. It started as a group effort in 2013, grew through dialogue with engineers, scholars, and activists, and evolved into a broader movement aiming to build human-scale proto-bees that can interact via networks.
Rob Long: AI, Scorpions in the Office & Why Local Optima Ruin Careers
Q: How are you using AI professionally at Bayer and what does the Sales Companion entail?
The app includes an agronomy agent that integrates internal data, helps sales reps by capturing grower conversations, and provides guided recommendations and notes to support product sales.
