  • Got a shout out and loved the episode

The most recent episode featuring skin care was really engaging and I found it because a link was posted in the Disrupter School communities by some students and I’m always curious to hear peoples experience secondhand like this.

Incredible to see somebody be able to double their Facebook ad budget I also loved learning about that brand newsletter strategy of the the mindful minute and will absolutely be trying to operationalize that myself.

This was a great pod and one I would love to be a gu... more

  • I run an 8 figure brand. From A to Z this show helped me get a grasp on DTC/eccomerce

I started listening to this show in 2019.

At the time, I owned a real estate business. It was hands-on, 5-figure monthly revs. I had built it from zero.

The idea of a remote business where I could operate from a distance and be scaled was lovely.

So, while I was driving to and from my job and my business for the next year or two, I binged on this show.

I learned about subscription models, DTC brands, Facebook ads, CRO, Google ads, Shopify, and email marketing.

It was a little fast for a ne... more

7 Years to Profit: The Hamster Ball Reinvented
Q: How did you get to retailers like Pet Supermarket and what validated the market?
Pet Supermarket was the first retailer to take a chance, recognizing the innovation and safety improvements, which helped validate the market beyond direct-to-consumer efforts that struggled due to niche appeal and safety concerns.
7 Years to Profit: The Hamster Ball Reinvented
Q: So what's the business? What do we sell? What's it called?
The business is Happy Habitats, formerly Rolling Rodents LLC, making safer, better-designed hamster balls and small-pet habitats, including the Halo carrier and the Burro Bricks system, with a focus on safety, innovation, and multi-channel distribution.

Q: Why move from Indiegogo to a self-hosted pre-order model, and how did that impact your marketing?
The founder realized that campaigns on Indiegogo constrained messaging and compared to a self-hosted store, offered less control; switching to pre-orders on his own site improved returns on ad spend and messaging clarity.
He Had Zero Audio Experience. Then He Sold $300K in Turntables.
Q: What sparked the idea to build your own stereo system and transition from consumer to maker?
A personal frustration with finding a good, easy-to-purchase setup led to the decision to design and manufacture his own system, partnering with an industrial designer and engineer and eventually building Dum Audio.
