I binged all three seasons and highly recommend! Such gentle storytelling, fantastic reporting, and great mix of first person interviews and secondary sources.
Just binged season 3 and now want to find out what seasons 1 and 2 are about. It stands out to me that the interviewers/hosts are good at seamlessly weaving in research bytes that help to dispel myths around abuse and abuse survivors (such as the classic “If it was so bad, why didn’t you leave?” question).
I am in awe of how articulate these women are, both emotionally and intellectually. For them to have lived this experience and then give us all insight into it, is a testament to their courage and self-love, even in the most difficult circumstances.
Wow, season 3 was so incredibly well-told and heartbreaking. As a mother to a young daughter, my heart absolutely broke for Lindsay, Jess, Krista, and all the other girls subjected to this life. Great journalism and story-telling on an incredibly difficult topic. As difficult as some episodes were to listen to, I binged this in two days. Thank you for bringing this story to light!
You two are such great journalists and story tellers. Keep bringing us these important stories with The Turning!
Here in Season 3 it’s so sad and bewildering that no one who committed these atrocities can admit to what they did. They seem to have to block it out to save their own conscience, at the detriment of their daughters. Brainwashing and indoctrination are very real but we always have a choice.
