Thank you for the amazing work you put into this. Reading along with my golden age omnibus is fantastic.
Host Michael Bradley is a podcasting luminary whose passion and enthusiasm for Superman comes through in each and every episode of this fantastic and entertaining podcast! Starting with the debut in 1938, he does a great job of keeping within the context of the era as he moves forward and explores the growing popularity of Superman and introductions to new parts of his mythology. I love his dry wit, spectacular sense of humor, and he is a fountain of information that makes you feel more knowle... more
This is based on only listening to the MOS review, so for all I know the other podcasts are better, but after listening to about an hour of this show I just couldn't take it anymore and stopped. Too much of the conversation was the nerds talking about themselves and having a dick measuring contest over who knows more about Superman and who has the better industry contacts to brag over. Whomever the guy is who writes for the Superman home page really needs to turn it down a few notches - you talk... more
Hi Michael,
Just wanted to drop a quick line and say how much I'm enjoying the podcast. I'm only at about episode ten, but your passion for the material and sense of fun has piqued my interest in tracking down some of the Golden Age tales in trade paperback form. Being primarily a fan from 1986-onwards, I've only recently begun exploring Superman's SIlver Age adventures but have been inspired by TTAOS to track down some of the Superman Chronicles trades and attempt to follow along. Great stu... more
Michael does an absolutely wonderful job telling everything about Superman's history. Even when an episode is covering a pretty boring story Michael finds a way to keep you interested be it an interesting tid bit of history or some comical sound bites. Michael is very knowledgeable in his podcasts and is far too modest about it. Not a quality a lot of podcasters have. Job well done sir! The Thrilling Adventures of Superman lives up to it's name thanks to the host! -Garrey
Michael Bradley approaches the Golden Age of Superman comics with wit, wisdom, and a handful of irreverence, all the time giving a loving but not pandering view of the world's greatest superhero. He covers all the aspects of the character, including the comics, radio shows, newspaper strips, and more, and never fails to both entertain and inform. Well worth listening to, even if you aren't the biggest fan of the Man of Steel.
This podcast covers the Golden Age Superman across all mediums, and is a great show for anyone interested in the Man of Steel OR in the history of pop culture/mass merchandising. Detailed and authoritative, host Michael Bradley is like a Professor of Superman Studies, delivering a the coolest college class ever. A lot of fun.
I usually find Superman to be a very boring character, but Michael Bradley does an amazing job at making Superman fun and interesting. Highly recommended.
This is a great show. Michael Bradley has an excellent delivery of clearly well-thought-out analysis of these wonderful old Superman story.
Highly recommended!
Host Michael Bradley does an excellent job covering the earliest adventures of the Man of Steel. His summaries and reviews are very concise and easy to follow even if you haven't read the comics he's talking about and the extra tidbits of background historical information helps to put the stories in context. This show offers a great look at how Superman got started and how he grew in those early days. Two thumbs way up!!!
Michael Bradley does a great job going story-by-story of Superman's early adventures.
I love this show but i think you work better when you have a partner. You should ask Michael Kaiser to join you. A non-superman fan would make for good point-counter point banter.
Thanks for the terrific podcast. It's clear the amount of thought, research and love go into the show you do. You tell the early stories of superman clearly, concisely and with great humor and respect. The show is really helping me appreciate the origins of Supermans character and story. So thanks again and keep up the great work.
Heard about you through Jon Wilson. Great podcast! Love hearing about old comics even though some stories are way out there!! Keep em' coming!!
Michael makes a great show. This is a resource that takes you through the Golden Age adventures of the Man of Steel, adding both historical context and an understanding of how the stories work in the mythology of Superman. I always look forward to Michael's perspective on the issues after I read the books for my own Golden Age Superman podcast. Keep up the good work, sir.
