How has it taken this long for me to find this??

I’m a sportscaster. I’m a fan of all things sportscasting.

    I mentor young sportscasters.

    Better late than never.

  • My Favorite Sports Podcast

This podcast has changed the way I consume sports media. I realized after listening to Steve’s show that much, if not all, of what I was listening to was cookie cutter. He has a knack of bringing out of his guests things that you don’t get anywhere else. He also does a great job of interjecting things from his life, past and present, into the conversation and I enjoy that as much as I think the guests enjoy it. He asks questions that are so different from the norm. You get the sense from each gu... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Season 16 Episode 9- Tim Brown
Q: Do you think Ryan would be recognized differently if we evaluated pitchers by today's metrics?
Yes, the era-based measurements mattered more back then; the discussion explains that modern metrics might push Ryan higher in all-time rankings, but it also notes the context of his time.
Season 16 Episode 9- Tim Brown
Q: What drew you to Nolan Ryan as a subject for your book?
Nostalgia and a long view on Ryan's career, plus a fascination with his longevity and the way he maintained his competitive edge across different eras and teams.
Season 16 Episode 8- Jay Mariotti
Q: What are you most interested in writing about as we move into the NFL season?
The guest discusses the major storylines like variable player performance, Rodgers' status, and the evolving quarterback landscape, emphasizing how these narratives will drive coverage and reader interest even as teams shift in the offseason.
Season 16 Episode 7- Chad Bishop
Q: What has surprised Chad Bishop the most about being on the Braves beat?
He cites the accessibility and availability of players and coaches, noting that unlike college or prep sports, professionals are open to talking, which has been refreshing for frontline reporting.
Season 16 Episode 6- Mike Vaccaro
Q: Was there a moment you hoped readers would take away from the book about ownership and leadership in a sports franchise?
Yes, that leadership is as much about shaping culture and expectations as it is about wins; Steinbrenner's legacy shows both the burden of high expectations and the ability to create a lasting, sometimes controversial, impact on a franchise and its fans.
