  • One of my ‘go to’ podcasts

This is one of my ‘go to’ pods when I am seeking education, enlightenment and new angles with regards to performance psychology. Dan had me on the show over a year ago and he was insightful and challenging - he clearly has expertise and his own points of view but also dives into hearty discussion with an open mind. I enjoy having two experts discussing topics rather than an interviewer and interviewee.

#327 Dr Peter Schneider - Sport Psychology for Elite-Level Environments

Peter wanted to explore sport psychology as he was an avid competitor and realized that mental strength played a significant role in performance.
#325 Dr Ian Peek - Coaching for Performance and Well-being
Q: Where would you start with an elite performer when they show a keen mix of technical and psychological challenges?
I would start by listening to the player and letting them lead the direction of our work together.
#321 Dr Scott Goldman - The Psychology of Team Selection
Q: Are you therefore saying to these GMs, well, look, it's less about the character of the player, and it's more about our ability to flex based on who this person is when they do come in to the building?
I think it's not so much about understanding personality which is fluid, but understanding the relationship between the environment and the person.
#321 Dr Scott Goldman - The Psychology of Team Selection
Q: Is that basically how it works? And do you think that's changed the landscape for sports psychology?
Yeah, so I mean, look, five years ago, 10 years ago, it used to be that I would phrase it to a coach, I was going to adopt this player for four years.
