  • Great Conversation

I love this podcast. I want to make a note in Mike’s recent interview. Him speaking about why he did not go for Ivy League baseball. I feel like there was a missing piece in his belief system of his parents. Children can’t not chase their dreams unless it’s an agreement on the parents part as well. When you’re a child you can’t see how your current decisions will affect your future, but the adults in your life can. As a mother, if my child has a dream and wants to do all the little mundane thing... more

    Dear Michael,

I just listened to that episode you did with Nir Eyal on belief’s. I just wanted to tell you that I found this to be very true because in the past, I was having some difficulty falling asleep.

I did not want to get into the whole medication thing. So what I did was take a white Tick Tack (knowing that it was placebo, but hoping it would work to give me some shut eye). To my amazement it did. Even though I knew it was a placebo.

The Psychology of Youth Mental Health | Ross Szabo
Q: What does mental health mean to you and how should we define it for everyday use?
Mental health is about how we address challenges in life, not the absence of problems; it involves awareness, vocabulary for feelings, and concrete coping strategies that can be practiced and improved over time.
The Psychology Of Building Team Culture | Eddie Jones
Q: What is your method for addressing performance under pressure?
Acknowledge the pressure, rehearse handling it in training, and use private, immediate feedback to guide players toward the right behavior without public humiliation.
The Psychology Of Building Team Culture | Eddie Jones
Q: How do you approach building identity for a team?
You blend the end-in-mind picture with the current group by evaluating both the historical context and present realities, then fill the gaps with targeted leadership, culture, and training behaviors.
Women Are Not Small Men | Dr Stacy Sims
Q: What is the core difference between training women and training men?
Stacy Sims emphasizes tailoring training to women's physiology, including responses to circadian rhythms, hormone fluctuations, and muscle adaptations, rather than applying male-centric data. Training should account for different VO2 thresholds, hormonal cycles, and nutrition timing to optimize outcomes.
The Psychology Of Spirituality | Dr. Lisa Miller
Q: How protective is personal spirituality against mental health disorders according to Miller's findings?
High personal spirituality with or without religion provides strong protective effects, including around 80% protection against addiction and about 82% protection against completed suicide in the data analyzed.
