    Dear Michael,

I just listened to that episode you did with Nir Eyal on belief’s. I just wanted to tell you that I found this to be very true because in the past, I was having some difficulty falling asleep.

I did not want to get into the whole medication thing. So what I did was take a white Tick Tack (knowing that it was placebo, but hoping it would work to give me some shut eye). To my amazement it did. Even though I knew it was a placebo.

  • Love the podcast, hate the add

Michael is a great interviewer, one of my favorite actually but it’s very annoying the amount of times the conversation is interrupted by advertisements. A lot of fast forwarding required.

    Update 2025 November

Slowly the podcast host has been getting more and more egotistical. He interrupts guests with his thoughts , which he often changes to match the guests, and comes across as condescending and overly self absorbed. Also I still can’t handle the ridiculous amount of ads and promotions.

  • Great content. Too many ads

Love the content and have been listening for a long time. Have noticed the number of ads go up, what feels to be exponentially.

  • I listen to this podcast every week. The insight and stories are really helpful and I look forward to every weekly episode. Thst said, I didn't give it five stars across the board Because the advertisements are excessive. Every episode is interrupted three or four times with a couple of minutes of ads and it gets really annoying. I understand that the podcast needs to be monetized, but I just wish the ads were scaled back a little bit.

The Psychology of Limiting Beliefs | Nir Eyal
Q: What is a belief, in your view?
A belief is a conviction that sits between fact and faith, open to revision based on new evidence, acting as a tool to guide behavior.
Five Questions That Matter | Dr Mike Gervais AMA Vol.28
Q: How should people balance leadership responsibilities with personal growth and reflective time?
Schedule time for internal work, start with short, repeatable routines, and gradually extend the duration; treat reflections as non-negotiable investments in sustainable leadership.
Five Questions That Matter | Dr Mike Gervais AMA Vol.28
Q: How do you work with anger—experiencing it without harming yourself or others, and without letting it derail performance?
Name the emotion, observe it, use a brief pause to downregulate, then choose a poised response; anger can be useful in performance if managed and directed toward purpose rather than harm.
Five Questions That Matter | Dr Mike Gervais AMA Vol.28
Q: In the constant pursuit of perfectionism and the expectation to feel 100% 24/7, how do you protect the central nervous system from sending misfires after being legitimately ill?
Reframe life toward purpose rather than perfection, embrace discomfort as a path to learning, and build routines (breathing, meditation, peripheral vision awareness) to downregulate the nervous system when needed.
The Only Financial Advice You’ll Ever Need | Morgan Housel
Q: Why have you dedicated your efforts to the psychology of money and the psychology of spending? Why this domain?
I think like a lot of careers, it was accidental with a lot of serendipity. I graduated college in 2008 and the only finance job I could find was as a writer.
