  • I love Lauren!

I love Lauren, and how relatable and straightforward she is! I have tried intermittent fasting for a year, working out a lot, and thought I was eating healthy, but wasn’t losing weight. After finding Lauren I am down 5lb in a month, and can’t wait to continue this journey!!

  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle

I found Lauren as a very busy mom of two sons and Assistant Principal. I had already lost 60 pounds before starting SDEU but was looking to lose the last 10 pounds and focus on body composition. All her advice is applicable in real life, science backed and sustainable. I feel confident that I can maintain my previous weight loss and continue to see real body composition changes. I’ve already lost 6 of the 10 pounds I wanted to lose with SDEU and see composition changes.

  • Great for people who already “know” how to be healthy

I am a serial dieter who has been trying to lose the last 10 pounds of baby weight for 5 years. I have so many good habits- I’m active and love to cook healthy foods for my family. I became convinced this was my “new normal” and it was a body image issue. Lauren made me realize it’s okay to still want to lose that weight and identify so many tweaks to my diet. Now I’m eating more (to get my 30g of protein per meal and 30g of fiber per day) and finally seeing the scale move and my pants fit bett... more

  • Obsessed

I recently discovered Lauren’s podcast and I am obsessed. As a lifelong athlete who has never struggled with weight until my mid 30s, I’ve been struggling so much to filter through everything I see in online and on social media related to nutrition, Health, and fitness. There seems to be so much conflicting advice that it’s impossible to know what to follow. It also seems like there are some really extreme points of view that just seem unsustainable. finally, I have found someone to learn from w... more

376. Q&A: Pre and Post Workout Eating (What To Eat Before You Workout)
Q: Hi Lauren, could you do an episode on running and what to eat before and after a run? I'm a runner and sometimes I struggle with deciding what to eat before a run and after, and I've noticed my weight can go up the day after a run.
A running-focused fueling approach is individualized; if you're doing light cardio you may not need extra pre- or post-workout fuel, but for longer or more intense runs you can benefit from a small carbohydrate source before and prioritizing fluids after, while ensuring total daily calories and protein are on target. The timing should fit your goals (fat loss vs muscle gain) and your overall meal plan, with more carbs on higher-intensity days.
371. Q&A: Should I Take Creatine And Will It Cause Water Retention?
Q: Hi Lauren. So I have a creatine question. So I have creatine, but I'm a little nervous to start taking it due to the potential weight gain that I've kind of heard that can happen when starting to take it. Body image can cause me a ton of anxiety, but I'm willing to try creatine if it helps with some of my disease symptoms. I have vestibular migraine and I know it can help with cognitive symptoms as well. So I'm really interested in it. But I'm wondering if you can touch on the weight changes and if there's any way to minimize any of that.
Creatine does cause some short-term weight fluctuations due to water being drawn into muscles, but that isn't fat gain and progress depends on your overall energy balance and training. Focus on why you're taking it, know that scale shifts can happen, and use strategies like avoiding a loading phase, keeping sodium and carb intake stable, and sticking with consistent exercise. If weight fluctuations feel overwhelming, you can pause or stop creatine and reassess. The broader benefits for gym performance and body recomposition often outweigh the temporary water shifts, especially if aligned with specific goals.
370. RACHAEL'S GOOD EATS: High Protein Recipes, Training Tips & Body Recomposition For Busy Women
Q: What quick ideas do you have for lunches and dinners for moms who are short on time?
Plan ahead by using pantry staples, batch-cook single protein bases, and use versatile sauces. A pesto chicken salad or a slow cooker protein can be repurposed across meals, and leftovers can become new meals to minimize daily cooking time.
370. RACHAEL'S GOOD EATS: High Protein Recipes, Training Tips & Body Recomposition For Busy Women
Q: What inspired your focus on protein and how did it shape your cookbook?
Protein has always been central to my plate because it improves satiety, supports metabolism, and helps balance hormones. In the cookbook I centered recipes around protein so every meal can fuel a busy day without needing extreme measures like protein shakes all day.
364. Q&A: How to Stop Tracking Calories & Macros Without Losing Progress
Q: I'd love to be able to learn to trust myself to navigate these situations without anxiety and not worry so much about exact macros. I'd love to hear if you have any advice or thoughts on this.
Transition by gradually reducing logging, start by stopping during weekends, focus on intuitive eating while keeping some structure, and listen to your hunger cues rather than being regimented about tracking.
