The other program on Sunday morning has become so predictable and mainstream . This is where I now go to inform myself and get fresh insights. They also have some amazing guests.
I’m one of many Australian politics nerds who, sick of Insider’s decline, rejoiced when The Shot redeemed Sunday morning. Fantastic presentation by Jo and Dave (and shoutout to Denise in the control room) plus amazing guests every week. There are too many to name all the gems but special mention for amazing Grace Tame, climate warrior Ketan Joshi and the incomparable queen of #Auspol Amy Remekis. Indy media is the last bastion of truth. Thanks Shot team, keep going from strength to strength.
David Milner is evil incarnate.
This is a great podcast, and so much better discussion, depth and guests than any other Australian program that I’ve heard. Thanks, keep up the great work!
Great to hear new perspectives. One thing when commentators discuss housing unaffordability. Howard’s changes did the real damage however one thing I never hear discussed is how our changed society over the past few decades doesn’t enter the equation. More people don’t marry and more people divorce meaning more housing is required to cater for that.

Episodes routinely tackle electoral dynamics, immigration, climate policy, civil liberties, and the role of media in public discourse, often challenging official narratives with rigorous analysis and diverse perspectives. Notable strengths include a willingness to host leading scholars, journalists, and NGO voices, plus a candid, no-nonsense tone that appeals to listeners hungry for independent, evidence-driven political conversation.
