I used to turn to the ABC for reliable news. I can’t do that anymore. Too much fluffy garbage, uncritical coverage of corrupt politics and turning a blind eye to social justice issues. Glad I found Lamestream.
If you want excellent critiques of the way news is reported in Australia, this is for you. It's terrifying how the narrative is being manipulated by the media, but it's brilliant to have Os and Scott investigate this and bring facts and balance back to the information we receive.
Incredibly valuable and genuine journalism that is also generally fun to listen to (when not depressing). However, there is far too much a focus on sports that is off putting. I come for journalism and politics and current affairs; sports are rarely any of the above. I know you guys like sports and that’s fine, but don’t shove it down our throats? The sports industry is incredibly exploitative and platforms misogyny, racism and queerphobia. I don’t like your tacit acceptance and promotion of tha... more
A great podcast that has quickly become my go to for news updates/takes. Important journalism that I fully support.
I do however, find the ‘banter’ that the hosts include often quite snarky and reductive. It’s a little grating and think it undermines the integrity of their journalism.

Overall keep up the good work though!
What it says on the box. Mainstream media and sadly ABC is broken. These guys speak truth to power and have managed to get some incredible scoops.

This program offers sharp, often unapologetic scrutiny of media, politics, and power within Australia and beyond. Episodes typically dissect how legacy outlets, political actors, and online ecosystems shape public understanding, with frequent deep dives into how coverage of race, immigration, and global conflicts is framed. A standout is the willingness to critique entrenched interests and to explore cross-border media influence, making it a strong fit for listeners who want independent analysis and accountability in journalism. The show also mixes brisk banter with rigorous research, which can be both entertaining and eye-opening for audiences seeking perspective on current affairs, media literacy, and how narratives are constructed.
