  • Not a Great Experience for My First Listen

The first episode I chose to listen to was the episode on the role of diet in injury prevention with Dr. Ian Seels. I was incredibly disappointed with the misinformation being shared in this episode, given that low carb diets for endurance athletes have not proven beneficial according to more recent research. Dr. Seels also states in the episode that many elite long distance runners and athletes are low carb, and that is also false. At best, this episode is an inconvenience, and at worst it can ... more

  • Mostly good, informative content sullied by low-carb charlatans

I appreciate the motivation behind the podcast as a whole and enjoy most of the content. My experience listening to it, however, is sometimes spoiled by the appearance of dinosaurs who continue to espouse a counterproductive and even harmful low-carb dietary dogma. The most recent episode (at the time of writing) marks at least the second time in the past several months that I've had to abandon an episode within 10 minutes because I could not stand to sit through the utter nonsense that these cl... more

  • Loved the injury prevention, the research not so much

5 stars for the early episodes - they helped me a lot with rehabbing from plantar fasciitis as a recreational runner.

2 stars for the latest episodes on research reviews. These are getting out of the author’s expertise (physiotherapy) and without coaching and deep domain knowledge there is a risk to miss the forest from the trees or worst, influence your training in the wrong direction. In a couple of recent examples, the author failed to highlight important nuances about the topic or critically... more

Q: Rebecca asked how to balance flare-ups with injury risk and whether to forego races to avoid setbacks.

Re-Run: Understanding Sweat Science, Hydration & Cramping with Andy Blow (Dec, 2021)
Q: Reese asked how to judge salt loss during a race and prevent cramps; what guidance did Andy offer?
