  • I couldn’t stop listening

The production on this podcast is truly wonderful and the knowledge and trivia brought to the table about so many different films makes it a gold mine for anyone looking for something a little out of the ordinary. If you’re not there for the content then go for the host’s voice, you may think that they’ve just plucked a recording out of an old horror film and shoved it into a podcast, never had anyone sounded so right for a genre.

Stumbled across this gem searching for anything about director Pete Walker and have to say it’s excellent. The host has a good style showing excellent knowledge but also injecting a fair amount of humour

  • Become a willing participant

5 minutes into the podcast I thought it was awesome but by 10 minutes I loved it. Super smart commentary on the movies being dissected with a perfect sense of humor. Plus that voice gives the whole thing a wonderful since of being classy and trashy at the same time. It’s wonderful.

  • Frightfully Entertaining

Started off with the Stepfather episode and absolutely loved it! Val is funny in an effortless way and makes me wish I've watched these movies. He also has a soothing voice so there is a delay in realising he is saying some shocking things lol Add it to your podcast rotation, dear review reader. Subscribe and listen now!

  • Creepy. In a good way.

Val Thomas has a voice like satin pyjamas, which has me a little envious, as mine is more like a pair of ripped corduroy dungarees. His Retro Podcast Massacre is a campish, smart, well considered trailer for the VHS movies my Mum wouldn’t let me rent. Val draws on the perspectives of the writers, directors and critics of older horror films, and then stirs them into his own entertaining and informative reflections. The result is a Podcast series which teaches, entertains, and is perversely great ... more
