Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 10: Jay Hosking
Q: What do you think draws a musician to something like Eurorack?
Humans love sensory motor feedback loops, where we sense something and respond to it, and there's an immediate auditory feedback, which is very satisfying.
Episode 10: Jay Hosking
Q: Where does your history come from? Were you a scientist first or a musician first?
I would say I was a musician first, starting with piano at nine. I eventually picked up guitar in my teens, while my interest in synths grew over time.
Episode 11: SURCO
Q: Do you do any live patching when you're improvising?
The only live patching I do is with the Griffin's Claw to record ideas while performing.
Episode 11: SURCO
Q: Where does the name Surco come from?
It's derived from the Spanish word for 'groove', symbolizing the essence of my musical style.
Episode 4: Patrick O'Brien
Q: Do you think you need to understand music theory to really be able to make music with Modular?
I don't think you need a musical background; you can create and compose music in your own way, whether through ratios, improvisation, or any other method that resonates with you.
