  • Uber one???

I normally love your podcasts but how can uber one be sponsoring an episode about becoming mortgage faster? Seems very counterproductive

  • When later is now sooner

I think we should rebrand “Retirement” - for years it feels too far off to worry about, then all of a sudden it’s looming. Great episode discussing a reader’s question and fears that it might be too late.

Bonus Episode: What did investing look like 30 years ago?
Q: What should beginners look for when choosing an ETF?
Look at what it invests in (the underlying holdings), ensure you can explain it to a friend (the barbecue test), compare fees, and research who manages it to understand reliability and credibility.
Bonus Episode: What did investing look like 30 years ago?
Q: What is an ETF?
An ETF is an exchange traded fund, essentially a basket of assets that tracks a broad index, offering diversification across many stocks and sometimes other assets, with typically lower fees than actively managed funds.
Think means testing NZ Super is too hard? Shamubeel Eaqub says"bugger off"
Q: And how big is NZ Super forecast to get and how much are we currently spending on it?
The current spend is around $25 billion with forecasts rising to about $30 billion by 2030; it's growing fast and forces a discussion about trade-offs with other priorities.
SpaceX just went public. Opportunity or bubble?
Q: Given the current valuations and the AI-driven rally, should average investors worry about a bubble forming?
There are evolving signs of a narrowing rally and high valuations, with some indicators suggesting we are approaching bubble territory, though not a full-scale crash scenario yet; diversification and caution around hype are advised.
SpaceX just went public. Opportunity or bubble?
Q: You mentioned mechanical buying from index funds. Can you explain how that works and what it implies for the stock price in the short term?
When a company enters the NASDAQ index, passive funds that track the index must buy, creating artificial demand and pushing prices higher in the near term, before supply and other forces reassert themselves.
