Parents who learn how their own emotional regulation works, how their needs are met, and how actions are guided by thoughts and interpretations — also discover an amazing source of influence and guidance available to them in parenting. Why? Because when p... more

Imagine if we needed to know everything about our lungs in order to take a breath. It would be impossible to live. And yet, something similar is happening with emotions. We no longer trust our basic intuitions about what we feel, because of so much n... more
Strong relationships depend on respectful interactions. As we discussed in the previous episode, one of the things that will make the transition into the school year more smooth is to maintain a strong relationship with our children.

Our children rely on us for everything. Meeting our children's needs is our responsibility. This seems like an accurate statement. But upon close inspection, it is only partially correct. Let's see why…

For way too long we were told that the reason why we have negative emotions is because our brain is at fault. In other words, we were told that there are "errors" in our thinking and that the brain sends us false signals and creates problems when the... more
Let's talk about encouragement...
When we know that children can do better, it is hard not to want to encourage them to do better. Right? We want them to do well. In fact, we want them to do their best. But will they?
It all depends on how we app... more
If you only had time to read ONE book on emotional regulation, which one would I recommend? Until recently I would think long and hard about this question, because there wasn't a book that checked all the boxes for me. Something was always missing. I... more
As a parent to six children, this podcast is so helpful. Thank you, Julia, for the gift of your work! From what I have heard so far, your material is so vitally important. Also, as a personal aside, I am delighted at just how soothing
I love Julia's perspective and her unique take on things. I alway learn something new when I am listening, even when she talks about those topics I thought I knew everything about. The Parenting Presence is one of my favorite podcasts!
Julia has a deep understanding of how to decode and support a child’s needs. Her insights and practical examples help overwhelming situations feel more manageable and approachable. Thanks, Julia!
Julia is a rare gem. She understands how to simplify a complex issue: PARENTHOOD, into easily digestible concepts. Her methods are eye opening and have caused me to look within and adjust my ‘parenting presence.’ I always look forward to hearing what she has to say and know that I will learn and grow from her podcast each time I listen. I benefit tremendously and everyone else in my household does too!
Julia is awesome!! She gets it and knows how to keep it simple for us!!!
If you’re looking for help that you can start using now, Julia is here. She focuses on not just fixing the problem, but providing you with sound tools that will help you over and over again. Listening to her is like talking with an old friend who only has your best interest in mind. Julia arms you with the confidence that you can overcome anything parenting (and life) throws at you.
I love listening to your voice - very soothing.
I liked how you said to nurture our own emotions to then help your child with theirs.
Listening to Julia has been a great opportunity to better understand my parenting! I feel that the awareness process fortifies myself to make choices connected to who I’am!
Love this podcast. Julia has helped me think about the kind of parent I want to be and set intentions. She keeps it simple and relatable. Thank you for the parenting guidance.
As someone who studied psychology, I really get the sense that the information shared is grounded in a proper education in psychology and is up to date.
This is such a powerful podcast because it goes deep into the parent/child dynamic. Julia focuses on what matters most and the essentials of nurturing, values, and boundaries, which is so helpful no matter how old your kids are!
My children are grown, I wish I’d had the kind of support and insights Julia shares when I was parenting! I’m enjoying these podcasts nonetheless, they’re encouraging me to assess my values, needs and boundaries.
I love this series and especially this MVP concept. An easy framework to follow that makes so much sense and gives parents some space to feel ok about their efforts. Julia has a great calm presence as well, great to listen to!
Long time fan of Julia's work and was a regular listener to her previous podcast, Minimum Viable Parenting. Was missing that weekly guidance from her when that show was paused! So glad she is back with her wisdom, not your typical quick tips, but they work 100% when you put them into practice and rethink your approach to kids.
A different take on what makes parenting work. Drop those band-aid solutions and try the Parenting Presence instead. No quick tips and dirty tricks here! Only for those who respect children, but also value themselves. We have a lot to offer our kids, and also have a lot to learn from them.
