Optispan is a vision for what health should be. The typical person gives up 10-20 years of quality life in exchange for disability, frailty, and early death. We call this "the lost decade". Time that should be spent with loved ones doing the activities you enjoy are instead spent suffering from multiple diseases and taking a cabinet full of medications that probably do as much harm as good. • Science to sale pitch

I used to like listening to Matt and his very science informed opinions and would caveat his ‘takes’ vs ‘research baked’. But the most recent episode on cognitive improvements was nothing more than n=1 case study and what seemed to be poorly educated in the space guests opinions.

  • Latest podcast with Dr Seager

Dr Seager stated that for MD’s, knowledge ceases once we finish medical school. There was no pushback from Matt.

I’ve heard ridiculous comments from guests, but that one tops the list.

I’ve been a physician for 34 years and like every physician I have ever known, we obviously know that medical school is simply a springboard towards the goal for knowledge.

  • Brilliant, experienced scientist communicating the science of aging

Matt is an extremely well-read and experienced scientist in the field of aging. His work, particularly stemming from his postdoc, has led to deep understandings on how we age and how we may be able to mitigate aging and the diseases of aging. Among a field plagued with bad actors, Matt is a shining star. He provides perspective for those on the outside looking in and inspiration & guidance for those on the inside looking out. I’d recommend anyone that wants to learn more about aging and the stat... more
