A Sub-60 HYROX Is Nearly Impossible Without a Strong Aerobic Base - Owen Silver (#14)

Owen is contemplating whether to fully commit to Hirox or explore CrossFit and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for greater variety in his training.
A Sub-60 HYROX Is Nearly Impossible Without a Strong Aerobic Base - Owen Silver (#14)
Q: What made you get into Hirox?
Owen transitioned from triathlon due to burnout and found Hirox to be a perfect balance between strength and endurance training.
Hyrox World Record Holder: Efficiency is Key for Hyrox! Most Athletes Get This Wrong!(#13)
Q: How do you find efficiency when it comes to Hyrox? What exactly does that mean?
It means minimum energy for maximum speed; trying to save energy wherever possible through techniques and training.
Hyrox World Record Holder: Efficiency is Key for Hyrox! Most Athletes Get This Wrong!(#13)
Q: Do you feel like your background with swimming as a result of triathlon has really helped you in terms of this type of thinking?
Yes, but swimming has been a frustration for me because I've never been able to implement that to myself. Effortless swimming makes you faster, but it's frustrating because most good swimmers started as kids.
Hyrox World Record Holder: Efficiency is Key for Hyrox! Most Athletes Get This Wrong!(#13)
Q: So when you're coaching non-elite athletes, do you find that they tend to rest and recover for too long, and you're encouraging them to really take shorter rest breaks, or do you feel like there's a lack of rest?
The thing is that people try to go high intensity all the time, so 10 out of 10. They will learn to adjust with time.
