  • Do better with health advice

The 6/8/2026 episode was what did it for me. Ryan doing a 1-person Q&A and talks about heat training. Says “I don’t know all the science and might not use the right terms…I’m trying to give the gist of it” and ends with “you should do it, do it, do it.” He’s potentially walking people into hyperthermia conditions and doesn’t say anything about risks. And he has all the questions beforehand! Go find an expert and do some research! He might be trying to be “natural” or “genuine” with off-the-cuff ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

When to Stop a Workout, Tapering, Heat Training, Race Strategy & Elite 15 Predictions
Q: Do you stop a quality session when performance drops off or push through?
The decision should be guided by the workout's intent and how sustainable the effort is; if you're in a non-negotiable, must-finish scenario you push through, but if performance is clearly dropping and there's risk of injury or excessive fatigue, you should pull the plug and reset.
Zone 3 for Hyrox, Threshold on Erg, Nutrition for Performance, and More. HYROX Q&A
Q: Should you train for Hyrox all year, or pursue other events?
Training for Hyrox year-round is beneficial if the goal is peak Hyrox performance; other events can complement training but should not derail Hyrox-specific progress, as the best improvements come from integrating Hyrox-focused work with supportive conditioning.
Zone 3 for Hyrox, Threshold on Erg, Nutrition for Performance, and More. HYROX Q&A
Q: What are your thoughts on the Elite 15 qualification system?
The system aims to level the field by focusing on performance relative to competition rather than absolute times, reducing the impact of course differences and making the qualification process more equitable for top athletes.
Zone 3 for Hyrox, Threshold on Erg, Nutrition for Performance, and More. HYROX Q&A
Q: How much ERG volume is necessary for Hyrox performance?
Not a ton—about 4-5K per week per machine is a practical minimum, enough to develop technique and conditioning without overdoing it; more volume can help, but it isn't strictly required for performance gains.
Zone 3 for Hyrox, Threshold on Erg, Nutrition for Performance, and More. HYROX Q&A
Q: How should you approach ERG training for threshold and easy work?
Use organzied pacing around a baseline benchmark (2K for the host; 5K for Meg) and adjust pace by interval length; threshold pieces should feel hard but sustainable, while easy work should stay comfortably under threshold to accumulate volume without excessive fatigue.
