Excellent podcast. Hyrox is a relatively new event meaning training, technique and nutrition is changing constantly. Greg speaks to a broad spectrum of athletes from all backgrounds making the podcast relatable to all

  • Interesting guests

Greg is a really good show. His guests always have something great to offer and it is such a good listen. Only tweaks… Maybe spread out the sponsors of the show between episodes rather than having three or four minutes of ad reads at the beginning, which is a bit tedious. But understandable. I can definitely understand that ads need to be read. And the only other thing is that sometimes there are things that are said by the guests that Greg seems to either not here or just glaze over and it almo... more

This is hands down the best hyrox related interview. The sincere and honest responses are full of knowledge and wisdom and Greg asks simple and open questions that lead to dynamic answers. Greg says just enough and lets his guests be the show and Tiago does not disappoint.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

HYROX Training, Running Progress and Breakthrough Performances with Jack Driscoll
Q: Do you have a coach or are you writing your own training?
I'm training myself, but I'm open to ideas from other successful athletes and coaches to refine what works for my body without ego, constantly adapting.
HYROX Training, Running Progress and Breakthrough Performances with Jack Driscoll
Q: Let's talk about your sporting background first. What were you doing before HYROX?
I came from a bodybuilding and powerlifting background, had ACL injuries that limited running early on, and gradually shifted to HYROX with cross-training and running build-up, eventually choosing HYROX as my focus.
HYROX Training, Fatigue Management and Race Performance with Aaron Woodman
Q: Would you use velocity-based training to progress weights as you improve?
Yes, but not as a crutch; you should respect the velocity window and adjust loads when you're fatigued, using the green/yellow/red signals to guide progression rather than chasing numbers in isolation.
HYROX Training, Fatigue Management and Race Performance with Aaron Woodman
Q: So how do you know if you're doing enough or too much in training?
Predictive signs come from listening to the body, tracking subjective feelings, and using tools like HRV or velocity-based training to gauge readiness, but the core is to stay flexible and avoid rigid adherence to a plan when you're fatigued.
Pelayo Menendez Fernandez on HYROX Injury Recovery, Race Strategy and Training
Q: Can you talk a bit about that injury and the road to recovery back from that?
He describes an initial Achilles tendinopathy that escalated to a rupture; after seven months of rehab, he focused on bike-based fitness, gradually reintroducing HYROX movements, and maintaining training intensity while rebuilding confidence and form.
