  • Female gym owner always learning

Love listening to Dan during my commute and workouts. Although I own a rec only gymnastics school, so many topics relate to my business (even though a lot of cheer episodes). I feel like he is talking just to me and his topics always seem to line up perfectly with issues I am facing. Thank you!

Systems Protect Athletes - Not Just Policies
Q: What are some consistent reasons why culture doesn't get executed as intended in gyms?
Often due to time constraints, lack of intentionality in promoting values, and assumptions that new staff will naturally assimilate the culture without proper guidance.
Systems Protect Athletes - Not Just Policies
Q: What was the inspiration behind writing your book?
Joey's inspiration stemmed from her experiences in the cheer industry and realizing that tailored safeguarding education was vital after recognizing gaps in existing training.
Why Parents Don’t “Trust the Process”
Q: How are you navigating cheer coaches to trust in you as the leader?
By being involved in the gym daily, showing commitment, asking questions, and emphasizing people management skills to create buy-in from both athletes and coaches.
Why Parents Don’t “Trust the Process”
Q: What have been some things you've seen that have surprised you about the industry?
The cheerleading industry is tough for newcomers, and I've realized that there is a strong sense of belonging among elite participants, which can make integration challenging for outsiders.
