  • Big Fan of Kevin Wheeler

I’ve been listening to Kevin Wheeler for close to a decade. I really enjoyed his work at 101ESPN, and I was thrilled to see him catch back on with a local station earlier last year. Whenever one of his shows is available in Podcast form, I listen. Sharpest, most level-headed baseball mind out there.

  • Yikes

If Hrabe is not talking baseball, look out. The lack of hockey knowledge immediately stands out, you can tell when someone doesn't care about hockey and only likes the most boring sport on earth baseball.

  • Great resource for Cardinals information

This is a great recap of those shows, and as an out of town listener, I appreciate the chance to hear the news, interviews and recently the past season recaps. Especially needed in this time w/o games!

Hour 1: MLB Draft with Sam Dykstra, how did the Cardinals fare?
Q: What does the draft say about the organization's long-term planning and player development?
Dykstra highlights that the Cardinals have become more efficient under the new regime, with development teams working closely with scouts to realize each player's potential, signaling a coordinated plan rather than quick-fix moves.
Hour 1: MLB Draft with Sam Dykstra, how did the Cardinals fare?
Q: Is there anything with a Cardinals Draft class that stands out to you as a kind of through line?
Dykstra notes that the Cardinals prioritized college players over high school talent this cycle, suggesting a shift toward players with immediate development paths and college-developed tools, and emphasizes how development is integrated with scouting and acquisitions.
Hour 1: Sam Blum on John Mozeliak taking over as Angels interim GM, Lou Korac on Blues' draft picks, Jordan Kyrou trade
Q: How surprised were you by this Mozeliak move to the Angels?
I was surprised in timing but not in principle; the Angels dumped news Friday night and Mozeliak brings a credible track record, suggesting a credible plan rather than a panic hire, with a focus on the draft and deadline decisions.
Hour 2: Just how crazy was that Knicks comeback?!
Q: Did you give the Knicks any chance to come back when they were down so much?
No, I didn't, I was ready to turn it off at halftime, and the comeback unfolded late in the third and fourth quarters.
Sports Open Line (6/8/26)
Q: What worries Chaim Bloom most about the team right now?
Bloom emphasizes organizational culture and long-term development, while acknowledging areas like swing-and-miss and player development, aiming to improve performance without compromising future prospects.
