  • Too bad

Not good. I love your show but the fact that you are having Deepak Chopra on might do it for me which I know is entirely my perspective. But I’m so disappointed. I’m all for looking at the facts and these facts say a lot.

  • Consistent & Value Add

I’m finally taking a moment to write a review after many, many years of listening. MBG has been my go-to podcast for many years and it only gets better and more thoughtful. Jason asks the right questions and keeps a healthy perspective on practical information vs. fear or information overload.

  • Sounds like television or radio. Sad.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for maybe 10 years. I’ve always loved it. Sadly the advertisements now sound like commercials on television, and it ruins the whole vibe of the podcast. It’s unfortunate. I never minded when the podcast hosts would read the advertisements themselves, but now having Commercials intertwined, I just feel like I’m watching television.

Such a good podcast and message. It was simple and easy to understand. Sometimes the podcasts talk about real specific details and it’s difficult to understand and digest. This was a great basic message about the importance of muscle

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

649: Why “in range” lab results aren’t the solution to longevity | Florence Comite, M.D.
Q: How do you use a continuous glucose monitor in everyday life to support aging healthspan?
A CGM helps track glucose patterns 24/7, enabling people to understand how foods and activities affect their sugar in real time and to keep glucose in a moderate range, which is associated with lower disease risk and better energy.
649: Why “in range” lab results aren’t the solution to longevity | Florence Comite, M.D.
Q: What should be the target levels for testosterone by decade, for men and women?
Ideal or optimal free testosterone for men is roughly 180 to 250, with wide individual variation; for women, 6 to 30 is referenced, with emphasis on free testosterone rather than total due to binding proteins.
649: Why “in range” lab results aren’t the solution to longevity | Florence Comite, M.D.
Q: You argue aging starts decades before symptoms. What are some of the earliest signs that we completely miss?
The earliest signs are subtle metabolic and hormonal shifts that start in our thirties, including decreasing testosterone and emerging insulin resistance, long before overt disease, with individuals often feeling not quite themselves yet not recognizing the underlying trajectory.
646: The gut is the missing link to women’s longevity | Cynthia Thurlow, NP
Q: What practical dietary shifts can listeners start with to support gut health and inflammation?
Prioritize nutrient-dense foods, include a variety of plant foods (aim for ~30 plant varieties per week), favor polyphenol-rich fats and vegetables, reduce high-sugar and highly processed items, and use flavorful, bitter vegetables to boost polyphenol intake.
646: The gut is the missing link to women’s longevity | Cynthia Thurlow, NP
Q: How should midlife women adjust protein and fiber intake as hormones decline?
Aim for about 100 grams of protein per day spread across meals, ensure fiber intake increases gradually to support gut health and SCFAs, and adopt an eating window that allows 2-3 protein boluses per day while avoiding rapid, drastic changes.
