  • Greatly enjoy this podcast!

Very entertaining! My fav part is hearing how they structure their training weeks and what their workouts and long runs are like.

My fav guests are when they are normal people who find a way to be ambitious in running while still working full time! It is the most inspiring to me personally at least haha

My suggestions/requests/tips for an even better podcast would be:

    - I’d love if you found some mom runners to interview and ask them how they fit their training in and in particular training d... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#141 Thomas Nobbs: Sleep brought him from 2:12 to 2:09 in the marathon (with coach Brant Stachel)
Q: How did you handle pacing when Nobbs started faster than planned?
We trusted the effort and ability to read the body; we let the pace fluidly adjust to maintain a sustainable effort, rather than enforcing the original target pace, which paid off as the race progressed.
#130 TCS Sydney Marathon 2026 with James Constantine | ep. 01
Q: How does the high-performance program work for Sydney's marathon?
The program expanded to 600 spots with 300 sub-elite and 300 age-group athletes, using BEQ-like standards and a transparent process; acceptance was under 10%, and the team is refining communications and experiences to better serve this cohort.
#126 Fiona O'Keeffe: Winning OTQ and running without a GPS watch
Q: What were the key factors in your successful comeback from a stress fracture to contending at New York, and how do you approach training and recovery now?
The comeback was built on strict patience and respect for the body's timeline, staying conservative with workouts, using cross-training when needed, and gradually reintroducing running with a focus on long-term consistency rather than rushing to race readiness. Working with doctors and coaches, I learned to listen to my body and not force workouts, which helped me rebuild confidence and form.
#126 Fiona O'Keeffe: Winning OTQ and running without a GPS watch
Q: Can you walk us through the emotional and mental impact of your Olympic Trials win and the attention that came after?
The win brought overwhelming positive attention that I hadn't anticipated, and it was both thrilling and a lot to absorb. I hadn't fully imagined what it would be like to be in the spotlight, which taught me to pace myself emotionally and focus on what mattered in the immediate moment rather than getting lost in external reactions.
#129 Ethan Shuley: from quitting to winning (2:07:14 in Osaka!)
Q: What were the pivotal changes Ethan made to go from a 2:18 to a 2:07 marathoner?
He shifted from a long, slow training style to a more structured plan with higher mileage, increased weekly volume, and a blend of easier runs with purposeful hard sessions and marathon-specific workouts, plus careful recovery and listening to his body.
