  • A go to pod

I’ve listened to just about every episode for two years now. Honestly feels like I’m just hanging with the boys when listening! Love the range of athletes interviewed and have also learned a few things along the way. Keep on keeping on. Also, moo.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#307 Peter Lynch - 2:06 at the London Marathon for Top European + Irish National Record
Q: What was your race-day strategy and pacing plan for London?
We targeted the 2:06:30 group and trusted the pace group to carry us to 30-32K, then planned a controlled finish with a surge only in the last 10K if needed.
#311 Cody Poskin - Cocodona 250 3rd Overall Race Recap + Training for a Mountain Race in Missouri
Q: What were the low points, and how did your crew help you push through them?
There were a few lows: early around mile 50 with stomach issues after a bad tailwind, another no-man's-land stretch before Sedona, and a cold, long plateau late at night. My pacers and crew provided energy, occasional short naps, and a mental boost that kept me moving rather than quitting.
#311 Cody Poskin - Cocodona 250 3rd Overall Race Recap + Training for a Mountain Race in Missouri
Q: What was your sleep and fueling strategy like, and did you adjust it during the race?
It was mostly by feel with a plan to sleep at Sedona around mile 160, but the technical sections and heighten fatigue forced adjustments. Naps varied greatly in effectiveness; sometimes short 10-minute rests helped, other times longer rest didn't, so I treated naps as a tool to manage energy and keep moving.
#311 Cody Poskin - Cocodona 250 3rd Overall Race Recap + Training for a Mountain Race in Missouri
Q: How did you approach the entry fee and investment in Cocodona as a pro athlete?
I paid for Cocodona myself last year and this year; Mount to Coast covered the entry retroactively. It's expensive—logistics, travel, and time off work add up, but the experience and potential payoff in brand exposure and personal progression make it worthwhile.
#311 Cody Poskin - Cocodona 250 3rd Overall Race Recap + Training for a Mountain Race in Missouri
Q: So on the start line, did you feel like you could win this race for sure given your momentum?
I kept a vision of where I could make moves, focused on runnable flat sections where I could gain time, and believed in the possibility without overcommitting early. I knew my strengths lay in the flatter miles, and I used that to stay within striking distance rather than going all-out from the start.
