  • This podcast isn't for you. Unless you want to win at local advertising!

First of all, know that Borrell Associates collectively, and Gordon and Corey specifically, know their stuff cold when it comes to local media advertising. Their annual SMB survey administered through their media company partners is relevant, timely and accurate. And, it's data no media company I know can get their advertisers to share with them. So, Gordon and Corey are established experts in the data, forecasting, consulting and relevance of local media advertising- across multiple media.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

As AI Search Explodes, What Happens to SEO Budgets?
Q: Are dollars from SEO converting over to AI optimization or are they additive?
Early data suggests a mix: some advertisers view AI optimization as an additional channel on top of SEO, while others see it as a reallocation of spend from existing channels, with SEO remaining a leading efficiency factor.
As AI Search Explodes, What Happens to SEO Budgets?
Q: What should the folks on the sales side of the equation do? Should they be actively having those conversations? Is your product ready for them to deliver?
Yes. If clients aren't asking for it yet, they're likely getting asked by someone else, and agencies should start the conversations around AI optimization and SEO aimed at the AI engines to stay competitive.
Defying Gravity, Out of Home is Set for Even Bigger Growth
Q: Dave, tell us how someone gets in touch with you or Vistar Media if they're interested.
You can reach me at dave@vistarmedia.com, and I'll definitely respond to discuss what's going on in the out-of-home space.
Will Relaxing Media Ownership Rules Benefit Local Advertisers?
Q: What do all these ownership rules mean for local businesses?
David explains that the rules historically limited how many stations a company could own in a market or nationwide, with the aim of preserving localism and preventing undue influence, but with market changes and digital competition, the balance is shifting toward allowing larger ownership to help scale local broadcasters while still raising concerns about local control and diversity of viewpoints.
Why Bob Pittman Won't Let AI Touch the Mic
Q: How do partnerships with Amazon and TikTok fit into iHeart's growth strategy?
Amazon DSP supports revenue expansion through programmatic buys and data depth, while TikTok helps with audience reach and engagement. Both collaborations are designed to amplify both monetization and brand visibility without compromising the human-centric focus.
