  • In Depth and Interesting!

I really like how this is not just a biography, but covers the all the surrounding aspects. I particularly enjoyed the episodes on Maria Theresa and the discussion about 18th century history misconceptions and what a role those are still playing in modern society.

  • In these episodes, Alec makes the world of Frederick II accessible to a popular audience, in a way that has never been done before. For many, reading scholarly books and articles on the eighteenth-century is a bridge too far, but listening to podcasts like this one help the past come to life. Alec includes both chronological narrative episodes, thematic analysis, as well as interviews with academic and public historians. A great way to learn about German Central Europe in the eighteenth century!... more
