  • My Friend Kevin

I’ve been listening to podcasts for 18 years every day, countless hours and hours. My podcast rotation includes genres ranging from comedy and politics to sports. Kevin is not just a sports podcast host. He doesn’t know it, but he’s been with me (in my ears) through life’s up and downs, heartache, joy, and grief. Recently, my mom passed and the best way I could connect with my dad to get him through some tough times has been talking to him about the ‘skins, Tommy’s Florida trips, and the recent ... more

  • Very valuable for DC sports fans

This is a tremendous listen for sports fans with ties to the DC area. Kevin speaks in an inviting, familiar, down-to-Earth way, covering stories just after they break, intelligently breaking down X and O’s, and hosting guests with fascinating insights. Sometimes he is a major homer, exempting teams from evaluation if they have too many injuries or finding hoops optimism when others can’t find any. Other times, he talks about the weather.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jeremiyah Love To Washington "Makes Sense"?
Q: What did you think of the end-of-game foul strategy used in the Florida-Iowa game?
I thought the idea was sound in theory, to foul a weaker free-throw shooter, but the execution failed because the defenders didn't align to prevent the catch-and-drive sequence from midcourt; in practice, a simpler approach with safety and containment would have preserved a late lead.
Not Enough Love At 7
Q: What's the overall sense of this draft's top tier compared to years past?
Bo argues that the top of the draft isn't as weak as some say, especially because the quarterback class, while not elite, has enough high-end potential to energize the top of the board and drive trade activity, particularly around seven.
Reading Between Team Brass Lines
Q: What did Ben Standig learn from the days in Phoenix and the league meetings?
Ben explained that there were nuanced takeaways about positional value, the evolving receiver class, and how the front office reads between the lines when no one is forcefully declaring plans, especially around the center position and potential trades.
Noah Brown To IR + Suter Film
Q: What did you take away from the loss on Monday night?
The game showed a bend-but-don't-break defensive approach that almost worked, but missed opportunities and late-game execution derailed the comeback, especially in run defense and protection against Bears' coverages.
Draft Hypocrisy + Gary Williams
Q: What stands out most about Maryland's Final Four run and the years surrounding it?
Williams emphasizes the emotional significance of the Maryland run, the resilience of the team, and the leadership that carried them through a challenging season into a championship-level trajectory.
