I mostly enjoyed this show until I found out a huge segment of it is AI hosted telling AI generated stories. Doc is investing in, and experimenting with, an AI him, AI guests, AI hosts and AI generated trail tales. And is not up front about what is real and what isn’t. He lost all my respect. Especially as a creative who is greatly affected by this technology it feels like a slap in the face. He is not true hiker trash.
Aug 11. 25 a rewind worthy of review…
Fun interviews that get to the point.
It’s too structured. I’d enjoy it more if you just had a conversation with the guest and didn’t worry about segments. I’d also enjoy it better if the guest was just in one episode instead of breaking into different episodes or parts.
The interviews are great and the topics are awesome but I can’t get past the awkward artificial “call and response” style of the discussions. I find myself cringing waiting for the next interruption to the point I’m not even able to follow the story. Is this supposed to be artistic? Or an attempt to keep it from sounding like a monologue? Why can’t the two hosts just share facts? It sounds like the responses are literally edited in. Nobody has a conversation like this.
