  • Suspense and adventure

I have to say this is my new favorite wind down st night story time. As I listened to the Appalachia trail story from mental health problems to hiking for health, I felt pulled in and in the moments. Thanks for a great story. Lori

  • One Episode

I could enjoy the podcast but I rarely listen because each interview is broken up into multiple episodes. It just makes it more difficult. I would prefer just to hit play and listen to it as one episode. It’s also too structured. Just have a conversation.

  • Voluminous ads/commercials

Most content enjoyable, although FKTs, Barkley Marathon, elite performers seem over-represented.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Itchy Feet - Will "Last Strap" Roquemore (Part I)
Q: Question number five. Most Hiker Trash moment?
Sinking into a sink to clean SAP off my pants without shower access stands out as a hilariously embarrassing moment, followed by a genuinely practical shift in gear decisions and self-deprecating humor about the situation.
Itchy Feet - Will "Last Strap" Roquemore (Part I)
Q: Question number four. Any upgrades or realizations about your Prius setup?
I've added a new mic and audio interface, expanded a backseat studio, and upgraded a solar battery bank to improve video and audio quality while maintaining a mobile workflow.
Itchy Feet - Will "Last Strap" Roquemore (Part I)
Q: Question number three. Tell us your best hitch story from the PCT era.
One of the best involved a remote Trout Lake hitch where I signaled the truck, jumped in with a sign that read 'hiker to town,' and ended up interviewing the driver and meeting his dog Gunner, which turned into a memorable, upbeat moment.
Itchy Feet - Will "Last Strap" Roquemore (Part I)
Q: Question number two. After years on the trail and now in a stationary home, does four walls feel like a luxury or a prison?
It's a mix of both: being stationary provides safety and time with family, but the nomad impulse and itchy feet keep pulling me toward more trails and long-term goals like the CDT and AZT.
Itchy Feet - Will "Last Strap" Roquemore (Part I)
Q: Question number one. Looking back at the AZT tapping out, was it physical breakdown, mental burnout, or the desert's vibe?
It was primarily physical pain from heat and distance, compounded by insufficient conditioning after the PCT; the decision to quit was ultimately about listening to the body and choosing safety.
