  • Cody Taylor

Listening to episode 1198 with Cody Taylor: he speaks so fast that I can’t tell what word he’s saying when he’s naming an energy bar. Is it Lara Bar or Laird Bar or Lair Bar? Plus, I’m going to try your peanut butter and real butter squeeze recipe this weekend.

  • Inspiring

I’ve listened to this show almost since the beginning and I’m never disappointed. The recent ‘secret’ Sasquatch episode is one of my favorites. It’s a departure from the interview style the show usually follows, but it was really good. Looking forward to another episode like this one!

For so long, I have missed the adventure in my life with a family as a single mom and working full-time. This podcast is helping to ignite my adventure gene and to realize that life and any challenge I encounter is also an adventure to be had.

Ep. 1214: Mountaineering in the Gap Years with Tom French
Q: What made cross-country ski racing such a passion for you, and what did that do to inform your life?
He describes a spark from an eight-year-old race that suggested he had talent and joy for racing, followed by a lifelong identity built around training, national ranking, and the physical and mental discipline of competition; the experience shaped his career and personal sense of self, but later provided lessons on perspective and what truly matters beyond winning.
Ep. 1213: Long Lost Thru hiking with Tami Asars
Q: How long does it take to sync with nature's rhythm on long trails?
Tammy discusses finding a personal rhythm over days or weeks, with nature time replacing artificial schedules, and how the pace varies between individuals and trail types.
Ep. 1213: Long Lost Thru hiking with Tami Asars
Q: Why through hike instead of destination hike or section hike?
Tammy explains that thru-hiking offers a complete, immersive life chapter; it tests endurance, builds community, and reshapes identity in a way that shorter trips don't.
Ep. 1213: Long Lost Thru hiking with Tami Asars
Q: But why do you love backpacking? You've done so much of it. Why do you love it?
Tammy describes backpacking as pure soul food, a way to unplug from screens and life's noise and reconnect with a deeper sense of self and wonder.
Ep. 1210: Skateboarding Route 66 and Other Wild Adventures Revisited with Damien Rider
Q: How did you cope with the negative pressures from the National Geographic team during the Mojave Desert crossing?
I ultimately chose to rely on my own momentum and cut the crew to protect the project, prioritizing the integrity of the journey over external pressure and staying focused on finishing the challenge.
