  • Cody Taylor

Listening to episode 1198 with Cody Taylor: he speaks so fast that I can’t tell what word he’s saying when he’s naming an energy bar. Is it Lara Bar or Laird Bar or Lair Bar? Plus, I’m going to try your peanut butter and real butter squeeze recipe this weekend.

  • Inspiring

I’ve listened to this show almost since the beginning and I’m never disappointed. The recent ‘secret’ Sasquatch episode is one of my favorites. It’s a departure from the interview style the show usually follows, but it was really good. Looking forward to another episode like this one!

Ep. 1200: Climbing to Overcome with Melissa Strong
Q: What do you anticipate now with the book release and your ongoing climbing journey?
I'm excited but honest about the fear—it's a full life being shared, with the hope that readers gain encouragement from my story, see the value of perseverance, and understand how to adapt to new physical realities while continuing to pursue what you love.
Ep. 1200: Climbing to Overcome with Melissa Strong
Q: Because I think that's going to be a lot of what we discussed today. Could you give us a brief overview of what your book, Climbing Through, is about?
Climbing Through chronicles my accident, the hospital journey, and the effort to return to rock climbing, including the emotional and practical challenges of opening a restaurant while pursuing climbing. It also covers the mindset, medical innovations, and reconciliation with loss and perseverance that defined my comeback.
Ep. 1204: First Descent Kayaking in Bhutan Revisited with Ben Morton
Q: How did the Bhutan first descent come together and what was your role?
The trip was organized by DeRiemer Adventure Kayaking with Phil DeRiemer taking the lead. Morton joined as safety support and key aider, eventually embracing a leadership role on the water and in safety, contributing to the success of a challenging, multi-country expedition.
Ep. 1202: Climbing Montana's 50 Highest Peaks Revisited with Branden Joy
Q: Where did the idea to climb Montana's 50 highest summits come from, and how did you decide on that specific target?
The idea emerged after COVID canceled the planned race, prompting Branden to pivot to a multi-sport, self-supported challenge focused on the top 50 peaks in the Baretooth region, balancing ambition with a five-week planning window.
Ep. 1196: Climbing & Leukemia with Jason Kolaczkowski
Q: What was the pivotal moment that reshaped how you think about risk in the mountains?
A severe accident where my wife fell and was seriously injured during a scramble, along with the subsequent realization that even well-planned routes can go wrong, pushed me to become more competent, deliberate, and prepared for risk.
