  • Awesome podcast

Such a great listen! It always inspires and challenges me with energy and optimism. Shelby does such a great job interviewing her guest and I can often hear the smile on her face. I might not tackle any great challenge like her guests but I’m inspired to tackle my own challenges with renewed vision and hope.

  • Inspired by Wild Ideas to Launch Women of the Wild

Wild Ideas Worth Living gave me the courage to finally launch my own wild idea. After years of homeschooling my kids around the world while they chased their surfing dreams, I’m now leading adventure trips for women. Shelby’s stories remind me to keep saying yes to what lights me up. Thank you for what you put out into the world!

  • You are a great interviewer

Shelby is just an awesome interviewer, she knows how to make the interview flow and shows her kindness and empathy, which is so refreshing rather than a list of questions. The one episode I have not liked is of Tia Thomas the man who has destroyed women sports, it was disappointing to hear Shelby interview someone that has done so much damage to women’s sport and safe spaces, specially when Shelby’s guests are always people who have done incredible things and are inspiring. There is nothing insp... more

How The Bucket List Family Travels the World with Garrett Gee
Q: You recently became a professional soccer player at an older age. Can you describe that experience and what you learned from it?
Joining a professional team in Tonga was a bold move that tested my physical limits and pushed me to compete at a high level again. The experience showed my kids the importance of trying something new, supporting one another, and embracing the grind, even when the odds are against you.
How The Bucket List Family Travels the World with Garrett Gee
Q: What led to deciding to settle in Hawaii and how did your kids react?
We wanted a balance between pursuing wild ideas and providing stability for our kids, especially as they entered kindergarten. Hawaii offered a community and a home base that still allowed us to travel, and our kids adapted by embracing the lifestyle, while still keeping education and family time a priority.
How The Bucket List Family Travels the World with Garrett Gee
Q: How did you fund the initial four to six months of travel and what changed as you started working with brands?
We sold everything and started with about $45,000. At first, sponsorships were rare and often non-monetary, but over time brands began paying after recognizing the value of our content. We learned to negotiate from a place of curiosity and grit, moving from free products to paid collaborations.
How The Bucket List Family Travels the World with Garrett Gee
Q: Where do we even start? Were you always like this? Tell me a little bit about your childhood and your love of adventure and nature.
I grew up with a strong instinct to go against the grain and a love for the outdoors, which fueled my entrepreneurial spark and curiosity for travel. My mom's passion for travel played a huge role in shaping our family's path, and early experiences, including my Mormon mission in Russia, tested our resolve and taught me how to pitch, handle rejection, and persist.
Surfing and Sailing Around the World with John John Florence
Q: Is that right that his goal in 2015 was to win the world title?
Yes, he committed fully to winning the world title, moved to intense training and mental preparation, and ended up achieving the goal, symbolized by disciplined early-morning practice and a strategic approach to competition.
