  • A Great Listen for Everyone!

The Impulsive Thinker Podcast is for everyone! I am neurotypical myself, but I have found this podcast so helpful to my work with the ADHD community. I have learned so much from listening and I’ve actually used that information to adapt how I approach sleep plans for my ADHD clients in my own business. André’s interviews are interesting and offer insights that you cannot learn from a textbook. The shorts are terrific episodes and I often find myself listening to them multiple times. Great pod!!

Dr. Dodson: ADHD Strengths Are Only a Problem on Society's Measuring Stick
Q: What positive features of ADHD have you seen, and how do they manifest in work or entrepreneurship?
ADHD can fuel high IQ, out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and persistence when people are free to explore and are not micromanaged; however, the environment often suppresses these strengths.
Dr. Dodson: ADHD Strengths Are Only a Problem on Society's Measuring Stick
Q: What did you think about that newsletter?
The guest explains that while there are positive features, the disagreement is more about how to language and frame ADHD, suggesting both sides may agree but speak in different terms.
Guilt Comes from Inside — Shame Hits from Outside for ADHD Entrepreneurs
Q: What is the key difference between shame and guilt, and how does that affect ADHD entrepreneurs?
Shame is external and social, signaling what we did against others' standards, while guilt is internal and tied to our own values; recognizing this helps prevent letting identity become entangled with actions.
The Impulsive Thinker's Story - Pre-ADHD Diagnosis
Q: What was the turning point that led you to seek help?
A life tempest moment when ongoing friction in work and personal life, plus escalating frustration, pushed me to seek therapy and a formal evaluation, finally leading to the ADHD diagnosis at 44.
The Impulsive Thinker's Story - Pre-ADHD Diagnosis
Q: When did you start to realize something was different and worth exploring?
I began recognizing differences in elementary school, realized in my early 30s that I might have ADHD, and eventually pursued diagnosis later in life after years of feeling mischaracterized.
