The worst was they were acting like hormone therapy is spreading like wildfire when the fact is, less than 4% of US women are on any, even super low dose, estrogen. Many women are denied this life changing and beneficial therapy because d... more

200: REPLAY The surprising science behind hypnosis and menopause relief with Dr Gary Elkins
Q: How important is daily practice for real-world results with self-hypnosis?
Daily practice is crucial, especially in the initial weeks, to establish brain–body regulation and to ensure consistent cooling cues and calming effects are delivered to the hypothalamus and related systems; missing sessions can blunt the progress.
200: REPLAY The surprising science behind hypnosis and menopause relief with Dr Gary Elkins
Q: Okay, so can you walk us through what hypnosis actually does in the brain and why it helps with hot flashes?
Hypnosis shifts processing from the logical, conscious system to an experiential system rich in mental imagery and relaxation. This changes brain activity from the default network toward focused attention and engages prefrontal and other areas, enabling suggestions that calm the body's temperature regulation pathways, thereby reducing hot flashes.
"Why I Stopped Weighing Myself For Good": Anne Poirier on Body Neutrality
Q: How has social media influenced body image in midlife, and how can listeners navigate it?
Acknowledge the noisy, constantly changing trends; curate feeds to follow people who promote balanced, non-extreme health messages and focus on what feels good for your own body.
"Why I Stopped Weighing Myself For Good": Anne Poirier on Body Neutrality
Q: What practical steps do you recommend to someone feeling betrayed by their body during perimenopause?
Write to your body, allow space for anger and gratitude, then respond to the body with compassionate self-talk and create goals based on what you want to do rather than how you look.
"Why I Stopped Weighing Myself For Good": Anne Poirier on Body Neutrality
Q: How did your relationship with your body begin to change over time?
It started with recognizing the pattern of dieting and self-criticism from childhood, then gradually shifting through menopause to a focus on function, gratitude, and a more compassionate inner voice.
