  • Information that women need!

This podcast totally changed the way I thought about HRT - my oncologist had refused it but referred me to a specialist menopause clinic who agreed to HRT - I feel so much better and can’t thank Louise enough for getting this information out to women so they can make informed choices about their own health.

  • Thanks goodness for these people

Having access to someone who is basically a walking encyclopaedia of literature reviews has made me feel like finally there is a safe source of information! I’m doing everything I can’t to educate other women in my life now

  • Thank you Dr Louise Newson

I have no idea where I would be without the guidance from Dr Newson! Navigating the first stages of perimenopause when there was nothing out there to educate me on, in Australia I was constantly being shuffled around to specialists who had NO idea what was going on… thank you so much for giving me the knowledge and the power and confidence to know what to ask when taking control of my body and heath!

  • Respect to this lady

Dr newson is an amazing pioneer, pushing for us women to be listened to and respected by an industry who, not that long ago, locked us up or lobotomised us due to what were often hormonal issues. And all this without selling us programs and diet plans and supplements and all the branded “must haves” others do. She genuinely cares, so thank you

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

58 – ADHD and the gap in hormone care for women
Q: What are the three things you think will make the biggest difference over the next 10 years in improving access to hormone care for women with ADHD?
Three practical drivers emerged: more nurse-led menopause education and specialization in ADHD-related menopause, broader access to affordable hormone therapy including pathways from private clinics to NHS care, and a shift in clinician training so that GPs consistently recognize and treat hormonal contributions to mental health, especially for women with ADHD.
52 – Why psychiatrists must start thinking about hormones
Q: So three things, Gareth, what should psychiatrists know about hormones beyond prescribing?
Know about a CPD module to get up to speed quickly, start conversations about a woman's life cycle and potential hormonal influences, and don't be afraid to try low-risk, natural hormone therapies to see if they help, always coordinating with primary care.
49 – Endometriosis, dismissal and the fight to be heard
Q: What can someone with endometriosis do to advocate for themselves?
Speak to an endometriosis specialist, trust your instincts, and keep a detailed record of symptoms to share with medical professionals.
47 - Rethinking mental health and antidepressant prescribing
Q: What are the three things that they could be doing?
One, assess if the drug is helping; two, recognize withdrawal effects; and three, explore non-medication alternatives such as therapy and lifestyle changes.
45 - Inflammation, hormones and the hidden cause of chronic disease
Q: What are three important things for the new generation of doctors to learn?
Doctors should embrace an understanding of metabolic health, focus on lifestyle changes for prevention, and adapt to rapidly changing medical knowledge.
