  • A timely exploration of the value of refugees

Especially right now — I needed to hear this podcast. Shayda tells her father’s remarkable story with love and nuance. A beautiful meditation on place and identity, and on the contribution of refugees to the fabric of Canadian society.

I love the twists & turns on this podcast, although not very favorable for Amir for the majority of it. It just made me realize more how lucky and blessed we are to be living and calling Canada home 🇨🇦

  • Grateful and amazing

Thank you Amir for sharing your story. I have lived in Canada my whole life and have no true understanding of what life is like for immigrants or their journey and steps they will take to have a better life. I am sad that the podcast has ended but so happy that you have the life you had fought so hard far and have a beautiful family as well. I wish you and your family all the very best in health and happiness.

  • Inspirational

Such a wonderful story. Great to learn of an individuals story from a time I remember! I was 9 in 1978 and my mum gave me a stamp for my collection of the Shah of Iran on an Iranian stamp, and she said keep this it will be worth something one day as he is the last shah. I’m in Western Australia. I still have the stamp. Thank you for sharing your story.
