I think Evan Davis is wrong,heat pump should be put in when your current gas boiler is getting old, doesn’t have to be part of major renovation. Lots people have already put some insulation into their houses.I had heat pump put in over 4 days, including new radiators (as mine were over 30years old)and some piping, pretty painless really.
I do remember how when we change our house from coal fires to gas central heating, and indeed we had to fund it all ourselves , no thought about grants.
This podcast is great, and well timed. I’m hoping to install a HP, and solar/battery, and run my EV, after a renovation this year this year, and I’m finding the podcast very helpful indeed. I’ve struggled a bit to find the right quality of information- not dumbed down, but not just trying to interpret spec sheets, to make informed decisions now about the design of the large renovation.
