  • Listening while running

I really like this podcast and find that the author, Nick, does a good job at diving into the details just enough to help explain the situation, but not to much that the story gets bogged down. I listen to this podcast as I run each morning and find it helps me to focus on the Fall of the Roman Empire and not on my dreaded task of running. I’m on episode 93 and plan on repeating the series when it’s over just so that I can learn more about the fall when it’s all put together in a larger context.... more

  • Best Roman History podcast out there.

Fascinating, informative and fast moving. An easy listen, just finished reading the first book (on Kindle) and this makes a great companion. I’m in US and needed to VPN into UK to access the podcast.

  • Why couldn’t school have been like this?

What started as a half-hearted search for podcasts on Stoicism and Marcus Aurelius quickly brought me to Nick’s podcast, which has instantly become my favourite. Nick clearly knows his stuff, and even though I know very little about Roman history, I was very quickly hooked. I’m three episodes in, and if I’m not careful I’ll run out, because there’s so much rich detail and imagery, without any of the information overload that I’ve found on other podcasts. I’m sold!!
