  • Insightful and informative

As a recent older re-born runner, I am grateful for having come upon Floris’s work. My earlier training for marathons, 10-15 yrs ago, led to injuries and suffering. Floris’ advocation of the MAF method has only brought enjoyment and fulfilment. I may be older but am not dead yet. Why not more marathons?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#121: How to Build an Unstoppable Aerobic Engine (Even If Starting From Zero) | Scott Johnston
Q: How would you go about measuring that?
There's two classic ways of doing this in the past has been to go spend hundreds of dollars in a laboratory. But I strongly recommend people use self-administered field tests which involve measuring performance.
#121: How to Build an Unstoppable Aerobic Engine (Even If Starting From Zero) | Scott Johnston
Q: What high level advice would you have for them?
The first thing we would do is we test these two thresholds to determine, does this person have a lot of low-hanging fruit in the aerobic area or are they aerobically very well developed?
#119: When Things Get Hard, Say This (It Works in Any Race) with Jeff Pelletier
Q: How do you work through low points? Talk to me about any advice that you have to those listening when you hit a tough spot in a race. How do you deal with that?
First, remind yourself of your personal motivation for being there. Acknowledge that discomfort is part of the journey, and focus on what you've done to prepare for this moment. Engage in self-talk to encourage yourself and recognize that overcoming those challenges is part of the experience.
#114: Unstuck Your Running With Lawrence van Lingen (Round 2)
Q: Can you give some practical examples of breathwork for endurance athletes?
Individuals can focus on slowing their breathing rate, primarily emphasizing longer exhales, and use techniques such as humming to enhance their breathwork practice.
#111: Pushing Limits in Running, Adventure & Business with COROS CEO Lewis Wu
Q: How do you balance your training with being a CEO and managing family responsibilities?
I typically train in the early mornings or during flexible hours in the afternoon, with a focus on creative scheduling around my work commitments.
