  • Insightful and informative

As a recent older re-born runner, I am grateful for having come upon Floris’s work. My earlier training for marathons, 10-15 yrs ago, led to injuries and suffering. Floris’ advocation of the MAF method has only brought enjoyment and fulfilment. I may be older but am not dead yet. Why not more marathons?

#127: Jakob Ingebrigtsen's Advice to Run Faster, For Non-Elites
Q: What was it like to pace Eliud Kipchoge in sub-2-hour marathon pace and how did that experience shape your view on competition?
Challenging but rewarding; it demonstrated the power of a large, coordinated team and the importance of prioritizing preparation and strategy over individual performance in a high-stakes setup.
#127: Jakob Ingebrigtsen's Advice to Run Faster, For Non-Elites
Q: How do you journal and track training, and what tools do you rely on besides feel?
He explains using GPS watches and chest or armband measurements, keeping notes for key sessions, and logging data to validate training quality; measurements help ensure sessions meet the intended intensity.
#127: Jakob Ingebrigtsen's Advice to Run Faster, For Non-Elites
Q: Do you have any advice for recreational runners to become a stronger, healthier and happier athlete?
Jakob emphasizes that confidence comes from consistent practice and routine; keep sessions simple, trust the process, and build confidence through gradual, repeatable training instead of chasing quick tests.
#126: Coach's Advice to Run & Recover Faster For Recreational Runners
Q: How do you balance running and strength training without overtraining?
Schedule and spacing matter: train in the morning, allow several hours before lifting, adjust intensity and volume based on recovery, and prioritize recovery and nutrition to sustain both running and strength work.
#121: How to Build an Unstoppable Aerobic Engine (Even If Starting From Zero) | Scott Johnston
Q: How would you go about measuring that?
There's two classic ways of doing this in the past has been to go spend hundreds of dollars in a laboratory. But I strongly recommend people use self-administered field tests which involve measuring performance.
