  • A masterclass is translating science

As a clinician (who listens only to medical/health podcasts), what I appreciate most about Dr. Perlmutter is not just what he knows (he’s very sharp!), but *how* he communicates it. He has an uncanny ability to translate and summarize complex, dense research in a way that makes it accessible, but not overly simplistic. A rare skill set!

  • Domestic violence and the brain

I was hit in my face and got a right blow out broken eye socket fracture I had a brain bleed behind my eye that I had a cataract lens in my eye and a bleed behind my nasal cavitity. I had covid at that time twice back to back. Since then I’ve been suffering with complex ptsd I was 62 now 66 and struggling with my nervous system by shaking and short memory loss. I shake with medication for my depression and my arms legs or boulders jump. I’m devastated that this is happening. Has this been stu... more

  • Solid information

One of my favorite podcasts because it’s so packed with great information.

The only downside is it’s always difficult to listen to because of the poor sound quality

  • Poor souls quality

Great topics, however I can not tolerate listening to most episodes because of the poor sound quality. The host sounds like he’s talking in a tin cave.

Why Removing Amyloid From the Brain Isn't Enough to Stop Alzheimer's with Dr. Jonathan Fellows | E220
Q: What role do lifestyle factors play in brain health and Alzheimer's risk, especially for APOE4 carriers?
Lifestyle factors such as exercise, sleep, diet, and vascular health have a meaningful impact on brain health and can offset genetic risk like APOE4, making prevention-focused strategies essential even for high-risk individuals.
Why Removing Amyloid From the Brain Isn't Enough to Stop Alzheimer's with Dr. Jonathan Fellows | E220
Q: How should blood-based biomarkers like PTAI-217 be interpreted in the context of patient care?
Blood-based biomarkers are powerful surrogates that correlate with brain amyloid burden, but they must be interpreted alongside imaging, clinical evaluation, and cognitive testing to guide treatment decisions and not used in isolation.
Why Removing Amyloid From the Brain Isn't Enough to Stop Alzheimer's with Dr. Jonathan Fellows | E220
Q: What is the current reality of anti-amyloid therapies for Alzheimer's, and how should they be used in practice?
Anti-amyloid therapies can slow progression in carefully selected patients, but they are not cures and work best when combined with strong lifestyle and metabolic health measures. The decision to use these drugs depends on the patient's overall health, genes, and biomarker profile.
87% of Parkinson's Cases Have No Genetic Cause: It's in Our Environment with Dr. Ray Dorsey | E219
Q: What practical steps can listeners take to reduce risk right now?
Listeners can avoid or minimize exposure to known neurotoxins (e.g., choose safer dry cleaners, wash produce, consider organic options), use air purifiers, monitor water quality, reduce exposure to traffic-related pollutants, and engage in regular exercise to support brain resilience.
87% of Parkinson's Cases Have No Genetic Cause: It's in Our Environment with Dr. Ray Dorsey | E219
Q: You say Parkinson's is largely environmentally related. Can you summarize why you believe that and what the data show?
The data show that incidence and prevalence are rising without corresponding changes in our genome, suggesting environmental factors are driving the increase; studies link exposure to pesticides, solvents, and air pollution to higher Parkinson's risk, and family histories do not fully explain most cases.
