  • Best Australian property podcast (low bar though)

In my opinion this is the only aus property podcast worth listening to. Although the presenters are a bit on the robotic and staid side, this podcast is the only one I’ve found so far that presents genuine insights about the state of Australian property without resorting to Tony Robbin’s style grindset material or shilling some service/Course. They bring in a wide variety of experts across property, government, law, demographics etc who present a diverse set of views.

  • Louis Christopher

Not so humble bragging about how proud you are to have made so much money on your investments as a ‘property dumbo’ - wow! 😭

It’s clear Australia’s property market is being controlled by opportunistic investors, driving up prices in any city or region they can get their grubby hands on. Which drives locals out and is surely unsustainable long term for that reason. It’s a national shame.

  • Propertology Hall of Fame Dud

A relentless one trick promoter of lemon properties in regional AU, an otherwise quality pod chose the wrong “expert” Simon Pressley of Propertology

The service is a thumping dud and lost instant credibility for any presenter who invites this guy onto the show

  • Interview with Simon Pressley

It was so good to have an interviewee that didn’t merely just agree with Chris and Veronica. Was getting very boring listening to the hosts personal investment views that are made to sound like fact and that they are the only opinion and ways of doing things.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

100,000 Approved Homes: So Why Aren't They Being Built?
Q: Tim, is the massive up zoning across the entire city the right approach to reduce house prices or rents?
Tim argues that blanket up-zoning is not a cure-all; the evidence shows complexities in housing markets and that planning is only one piece of a broader system. Place-based master planning and targeted infrastructure funding can yield similar or better housing outcomes.
When Your Property Valuation Comes In Short
Q: What should buyers know about the difference between bank valuations and what a property might sell for?
Banks use valuations to secure the loan, not to market the home; market prices are driven by willing buyers and sellers, while valuations reflect evidence at a specific date and may understate the potential sale price in a dynamic market.
When Your Property Valuation Comes In Short
Q: What surprised you most about how valuations are used in practice?
Valuations are about securing the loan for the bank and are dated; they aren't marketing appraisals for what a property could fetch in today's market, which can create a gap between what the buyer expects and what the valuation shows.
Mark McCrindle: The Demographic Shifts Breaking Australia's Housing System
Q: What are the key forces reshaping housing demand in Australia right now?
The main forces are population growth driven by migration, an aging population that remains in homes longer, and changing household structures that favor multi-generational living and flexible housing solutions like granny flats and build-to-rent, all compounded by hybrid work enabling relocation while sustaining employment.
How Protected Are You Using a Property Advisor?
Q: Polina, how visible are claims against advisors to the public, and is there a public register of repeat offenders?
There isn't a comprehensive public claims register for most of these professionals; most information ends up with ombudsman bodies, and insurers usually handle claims privately, sometimes leading to opacity for consumers.
